💯 I keep saying this! Refusal to adapt to equitable changes should mean reduced investments. Especially if those areas already have adequate capital facilities. #equitabledevelopment
If low density areas of the city resist upzones, I think it’s time we stop distributing city resources based on geography instead do it per capita so that areas that are denser get more resources: more local schools, more library hours, lifeguards & parks staff, sidewalks, nicer street lighting…
"Actions that promote equity can feel like discrimination to people who are used to being the only voices in the room." 💯

Oof I feel this. In fact, just today I learned the sign for TIRED in ASL. How timely.

"This is common knowledge and doesn't need to be explained."

Me, every time I tell NIMBYs that racism and segregation are bad, and that the system they're so passionate about protecting is corrupt and was designed for oppression and dominance 🙃
The most important thing I can tell everyone that I've learned from being a YouTuber who explains how stuff works is that each and every time I thought "this is common knowledge and doesn't need to be explained" I was wrong.

"Proposition 1B gets rid of the mixed-income model. And even more galling, in a reverse-robin hood maneuver, it takes that $10 million away from other affordable housing for folks that are even more cash strapped. It is designed to pit working people against one another to fight over the scraps."
Seattle voters received Prop 1B campaign mailers riddled with lies about social housing, Ron Davis argues. He says that voters shouldn't be fooled and should vote for Prop 1A instead.

Hey #booksky my amazing friend @julianagyeman.bsky.social has an OPEN ACCESS book available that I highly recommend. "Sacred Civis is a must-read for anyone interested in intersectional discussions on social justice, inclusivity, participatory design, healthy communities, and future cities."

Buy Nothing was the last thing keeping me on FB. I hope folks in my neighborhood start shifting over to the standalone app so that our community can continue to thrive. I miss them 😥
Buy Nothing also has an app, which they specifically designed to encourage people to get off of Facebook. buynothingproject.org/join

Hey @safeway.bsky.social it's completely unacceptable to disallow these items at a store that is 0.2 mi from the light rail station. People taking trains from the airport, from the gym, from work, etc. should be encouraged to stop in without additional burdens. This is discrimination. Shame on you
Pretty messed up that the Safeway grocery store next to the Othello light rail station (maybe one of the most train accessible groceries in all of Seattle) has decided that people carrying backpacks aren’t welcome. What are we supposed to do with our stuff?

I listed some things I love in my bio, but I definitely want in on this wholesome trend!

Yeah, this definitely seems like an exercise my therapist would approve of to balance all the doom in my mind, so hit me.

1 like = 1 thing I love (with pictures if possible)
Okay this seems like a wholesome way to ground myself rn

Creativity is like a houseplant, not an endless well. You need to seek out sunlight, water, and nutrients in art, shows, music, experiences, and more to tend to it. And just like plants it has its dormant and active periods and you may not seem improvement for some time.

Joy is a form of resistance. I am learning how to exist in dualities. Simultaneously grieving and thriving. Weary and empowered. Resting and fighting.

Keep creating joy! Keep sharing content created by and celebrating the existence of queer, brown, and disabled communities!

#buildforbelonging 🖤🤎🏳️‍🌈
Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.

We have to sustain each other. Making joy isn’t denial, it’s how we will survive

I think it's important to remember that standards for "good writing" and "proper grammar" are rooted in white supremacy. Let's read and review written works by QTBIPOC/disabled authors, and use metrics like, "How did this expose me to ideas/cultures unlike my own?" to uplift diverse voices!

It takes time to look up who owns what, and to find alternatives for the things you need/want. Time and privilege are closely aligned; not everyone can easily do this. But the more we can, the better! 🖤🤎🏳️‍🌈
