In the meanwhile local councils are tearing themselves apart trying to fulfill government restructure plans that will likely lead to increased costs, less democracy and a democratic deficit.

Such sad news. The last surviving Battle of Britain pilot, John "Paddy" Hemingway, has died at the age of 105. So much owed to Paddy and his generation for the freedoms we enjoy today. RIP Paddy
