This is what Roy Jenkins had to say about immigration on 8th November 1966, when he was Home Secretary.

Not only an economic case; but "To live apart, for a person, a city or a country, is to lead a life of declining intellectual stimulation."

regardless of today’s outcome, it is morally indefensible to have a court ruling on something that affects a population, using evidence and findings that did not consult a single member of that population.

Today’s announcements in the #SpringStatement are another hammer blow for people who are struggling with their mental health and finances.

We urge the government to reverse course.

🥳🥳🥳
We have some VERY exciting news to share! 🎉

Today the government has recommended we should be given ‘super-complainant’ status, giving us special powers to call on regulators to tackle specific consumer harms.

@helenundy.bsky.social explains why we’re thrilled with this change 🎬

Loved the discussion on today’s @ohgodwhatnow.bsky.social re: accessible political news, where people actually are. I’m leaving in 2 weeks but I wouldn’t have had my job at Simple Politics for the last 4 1/2 years if governments, politicians, and journalists already did this (so thanks, I guess?)

My Dad has spent every day since Christmas insisting Stephen Mangan was in the Wallace and Gromit special - no IMDB page or credit reel could convince him otherwise.

This is excellent news for people whose full-time job is to write their PhD by June and whose part-time job is to report on UK and US politics.
There’s a chance that demographic only includes me, but still… 🤞🤞
British PM Rishi Sunak said his “working assumption” is that he won’t call a UK general election until the second half of 2024.
