Anyone who actually thinks there are any public services left to cut has surely not used public services for a very long time. The policy should be: Get more taxes, make things better, hurry up. It's really not complicated.

The Government is considering slashing welfare costs ahead of the Spring Budget, a move that would hit ordinary people the hardest.

It's not true that all benefit claimants are unemployed: 37% receiving Universal Credit work.

This has been really bugging me. I do still think that Labour is economically progressive (although definitely not in terms of foreign or social policy) by reading and skimming their bills - but why aren't they advertising this?
Very good @samfr.bsky.social piece on the third coming of ‘blue Labour’ which gets at something really bugging me: why the leftist economics of never get any play, even when literally the policy of the government.
