New Yorkers want fast buses. Here’s how we get there:
New York City’s buses are the slowest in the nation — but they don’t have to be. With a few low-cost changes, we could not only improve this dismal ranking, but also have buses that are downright fast.

All it will take is a few big ideas…

Congestion pricing is working so well that the MTA is now increasing bus service *outside* of Manhattan, too: these 16 routes are in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island.
Faster, more frequent buses! Brought to you by congestion pricing.

"The MTA has already increased service on eight key express routes heading into Midtown. Next week’s improvements are meant to speed up travel within the boroughs on lines with particularly high ridership." —@nydailynews.com
NYC bus service to increase on 16 borough lines starting Sunday thanks to congestion pricing
Bus service on 16 local routes is set to increase next week, part of a package of improvements meant to augment increased bus speeds due to congestion pricing, Gov. Hochul’s office told the D…

I went on the news to talk about the NYPD’s new criminalization of biking:
"With this crackdown, the Adams administration is putting New Yorkers at risk of arrest, jail, and deportation for riding a bike."

We went on FOX 5 NY to talk about the NYPD's dangerous new policy of giving criminal summonses to cyclists:

We went on 1010 WINS to talk about the latest congestion pricing news:

"People don’t like sitting in traffic, and once they’ve experienced an improvement, they don’t want to go back. So the governor’s and the MTA’s position has remained the same: the cameras are staying on."

On Saturday, 150 New Yorkers walked across the Queensboro Bridge's south outer walkway.

Mayor Adams refuses to open this pedestrian path, even though it's been done for a month.

We rallied with @cmjuliewon.bsky.social and @sengianaris.bsky.social to demand the path finally be opened.

Today's "People's Ribbon Cutting" at the Queensboro Bridge sent a message loud and clear to Mayor Eric Adams: no more delays!

Thank you to @cmjuliewon.bsky.social, @sengianaris.bsky.social, and the dozens of advocates who showed up to demand the opening of the pedestrian path — then walked over it!

Whoa you hit your head pretty hard there! Biden presidency? Trump second term? Dimes Square? Trad Caths? What are you talking about? We’re all going to a party tonight with Chapo Trap House, Brace Belden, and that Bernie staffer Ben Mora

The only mayoral candidate talking about traffic violence as a fixable public health issue
So tragic and awful.

Pedestrian deaths surged 18% last year. Among them were 46 seniors hit and killed while walking. And we’re off to a bad start in 2025.

The Mayor has the tools to make our streets safer but he’s refused to use them.
Woman who survived Nazis, Chernobyl, COVID killed while crossing Brooklyn street, police say
Mayya Gil, 95, immigrated from Ukraine in 1992. Officials say she died after being hit by a driver outside her Brooklyn home.

I want to use Bluesky, but either people don’t post enough here or something’s wrong with the feeds. I’ll open the app in the morning, refresh, and it’s a lot of the same content as the night before

Beautiful day. Canvassing for a better future will have you feeling optimistic for once. You should come to the next one!
On this frigid day in January, nearly 400 volunteers knocked on 11,717 doors to share our vision for a city working people can afford.

We are building a campaign unlike any other.

Air’s about to get cleaner
Earlier this month, we announced the purchase of 265 new zero-emission buses that will operate on routes across the five boroughs. This purchase is made possible by congestion relief funding!

I miss when you could easily sneak into the Drift Magazine launch party… Now I gotta pay $20 for entry and a complimentary copy of the new issue full of exciting new fiction that I will surely enjoy reading… Times have changed

In stark contrast to the mayor's ongoing campaign to arrest street vendors in Queens and throw the book at them. Many of these poor people will now be deported because of Eric Adams. As usual, the rich get their own rules.

For some reason, today’s (good!) Vanity Fair piece about Chapo buries this info toward the bottom — it’s still one of the biggest podcasts out there

A socialist mayoral campaign — with massive fundraising momentum making it a serious contender — makes people take its ideas seriously. Articles in the mainstream press ask “How would that work?” instead of the traditional assumption of “that would never work.” This is a huge shift.
Zohran Mamdani wants to make NYC buses free as mayor. How would that work?
In a race that is shaping up to be about who can make New York City most affordable, free buses are an appealing – if expensive – proposal.

One of the very few original scores to be highly spinnable on a dancefloor, even if “Yeah x10” is a shameless ripoff of LCD’s “Yeah” (Crass or Pretentious versions)

Last night on Avenue C, I saw a driver going >40 blatantly speed through a red, swerving around a car waiting for the light. Meanwhile, a cop car was patrolling Tompkins just steps away. You’re way less likely to die in the park than you are on the street outside bc of some violent, unchecked driver
