There are two possibilities: Trump is either lying now about the number of good-for-the-US trade deals that will be concluded imminently or he was lying about the objectives of imposing the tariffs in the first place. As a former trade official, my professional opinion is he's lying about both.

Replacing Powell with a Fed chair, more willing to reduce rates, needs analysis. Reducing rates when the slow-down is tariff induced will not do what Trump wants. Borrowing is not a great solution for a tariff induced show-down, as the tariffs themselves are the problem.

Dems lost the election because they lost the information war. Dems need to sell facts as well as Republicans sell lies. Oligarchs are buying America. They will get richer while the middle class gets poorer. Stuff like that.
Maybe the "Dems didn't reach the working class" people are right. If only we'd come up with our own "They're eating the dogs, they're eating the cats", "You send your boy to school, he comes back a girl" or "Saudia Arabia and Russia will rebeedoo ahhhh...."

Home insurance in areas hit by repetitive disasters is going to be the number one housing affordability issue over the next 4 years. And possibly going into the midterms.
More so than interest rates. Florida in particular is going to have huge problems.

Here in Florida we have a housing crisis of our own - developers are building affordable homes all around, but many are sitting empty because people can't afford the necessary home insurance.
