They've been trending toward a more SNES-style Yoshi design slowly but surely for a while now, introducing elements of his old design to his in-game design and 2D artworks, but not quite committing with the 3D promo art yet...

my prediction is they're gonna start leaning more into this design in 2D art but 3D promo material is gonna be left largely unchanged like what's going on with Yoshi

The main differences so far are the eyes, the brow, the build, and kinda how the fur is drawn/modeled. Similar to the Mario movie, the design seems to be mixing both classic arcade and Rare Donkey Kong’s designs.

It does allow him to be more expressive, gotta say.

Just looking at the fractones makes this very apparent, they look like something pulled straight out of a rare game

Also the Rare devs who originally redesigned him said they liked the new design and understand why they changed it.

Therefore, that argument is redundant, and if people keep arguing against it, they’re just proving they can’t except change.

Where Mario Odyssey is the "We made the Mario 64 we couldn't on the N64", this is the "We made the Donkey Kong 64 we couldn't on the N64" and I absolutely love it.

I moved on to Shrek 2 and instead of watching Shrek the Third I decided to watch Puss in Boots The Last Wish. Shrek 2 is a massive step up from Shrek 1 but Last Wish is so good that it might just be in my top 5 animated movies of all time. It isn't even close.

I only wish for the new movie to recast Mario because fuck Chris Pratt and his defense for RFK Jr.
