one of the roles of the league should be to mitigate the impact that systemic racism from media, fans and coaches has on players and the game, not legitimize it. the hip rule exacerbates the racial wage gap, capitalizes on bias, encourages inequitable treatment, and leaves the league worse for it.

Yeah, man. Marketability is directly affected by our biases. Especially racism/colorism/featurism. We gotta be honest about these things even when a higher potential salary isn't tied to it. The fact that a higher salary is tied to it isn't great. That 2020 work folks were supposed to do, get to it.

the problem with basing the nwsl off of other american leagues is that sports like MLB, NFL, and NBA are largely based in the american market. sure there’s a few leagues in other markets but they’re primarily *american* sports. nwsl competes on a global level which those leagues do not need to
