The true goal of totalitarian propaganda is not persuasion, but organization of the polity. What convinces masses are not facts, & not even invented facts, but only the consistency of the system of which they are presumably part.

(1/4) The Trump administration is ordering the State Department to label countries with abortion access, LGBTQ+ protections, DEI policies, and even hate-speech safeguards as human rights violators.

Almost 3/4 of people without health insurance have at least one full time worker in their home. The biggest reason these people don’t have health insurance is the cost. And that cost is going up dramatically for millions of hard working Americans who depend on the ACA.

SNAP participants can double their spending at their local farmers market or farm stands through a national initiative known as the Double Up Bucks food program. The policy council gives each customer wooden tokens, and if they spend $40, they will receive an additional $40 to spend.

We polled Indivisible members over the weekend on whether Dems should take a deal or keep fighting for the ACA subsidies. Results: 98.67% said keep fighting.

Dems who vote to surrender now are fracturing their own party in a way that will reverberate loudly in the primaries.
So Democrats get:

1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays

2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail

3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts

Those all seem like wins for the GOP.

Just a reminder that after the “Schumer Surrender” in March, 82% of our group leaders in New York (and 91% of our group leaders nationwide) voted to call for Schumer to step aside as Senate Minority Leader. 👇
🧵 The passage of this dangerous Republican funding bill is a travesty. The ongoing administrative coup led by Donald Trump and Elon Musk is a constitutional crisis. The authoritarians stripping away our rights and trying to loot the government to enrich the billionaires are a five-alarm fire.

Seems to be a pattern.
Schumer voted for cloture and then voted against the bill in the final vote, which is ridiculous. Purely symbolic bullshit intended to trick people.

The least the democrats can do is demand that Johnson swear in new AZ Rep. Adelita Grijalva *before* the senate caves on the shutdown.
Get something, dammit.

Schumer must be forced out of leadership.
He lost the Senste in 2024.
He caved in the spring budget fight, breaking his promise to back House Democrats.
Now he’s lost the shutdown.

He must step down as minority leader.

October 27, 1962, was arguably the most dangerous day of the Cuban Missile Crisis, a day when human error, rushed preparations, aggressive tactics, and sky-high tensions could have set off World War III intentionally or by accident at least four separate times.

Here’s what happened (a long thread):

When I was 10, one of my neighbors, a Black 17-year-old student at West Marion High School named Raynard Johnson, who was popular with Black and white classmates alike, was found hanging by a belt from a pecan tree in his front yard.

It was officially ruled a suicide. But his family doubted that. 🧵

The next question is, whose order will the California National Guard troops obey? Trump's, or Judge Immergut's? Will the answer be the same for the Texas National Guardsmen? How about the 82nd Airborne Division?

And what will happen after SCOTUS grants permission for states to invade other states?
