This is the facility that I and many others have been protesting. We’ve been hit, thrown, gassed, and shot with pepper bullets but none of that holds a candle to what is being done to people *in* the actual facility.

Read this thread. Don’t look away. Keep your eyes and the pressure on Broadview.
A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

One of the funnier parts of Laura Loomer's bonkers deposition in her lawsuit against Bill Maher is how grumpy Larry Klayman is. Like, it was either his nap time, or he was seriously regretting his life choices.

Ngl, sandwich guy's lawyer has got to be a secret screenplay writer or comedic novelist because in one sentance she's manages to reduce the border patrol agent to a 10 year old carrying his favorite plushie and a lunchbox to school everyday.
Asks, “Would a man genuinely injured, genuinely offended by having a sandwich thrown at him proudly, happily, joyfully” keep a plush sandwich on his shelf and a “Felony Footlong” patch on — yes! — his lunchbox?

I feel like Sandwich guy's defense attorney may have majored in creative writing in college, because these 2 sentences are just absolutely beautiful.
Defense begins, “This case, ladies and gentlemen, is about a sandwich. A sandwich that according to Agent Lairmore somehow both exploded on his chest in a spray of mustard and onions but also landed intact on the ground still in its Subway wrapper.”

And while they're at it, enforce the General Assembly veto on Youngkin BoT appointments at several Virginia universities!
Hopefully this trifecta can get to work undoing the agreement that UVA signed with the DOJ.
🚨BREAKING NEWS! The Virginia House of Delegates has not only been defended, but expanded — making VA the nation’s newest pro-democracy trifecta!

I see Conde Nast is taking the @washingtonpost.com approach here. Fire your top writers ➡️ insult your readers ➡️ lose subscriptions. That's been a disaster for wapo. They've lost more than ~300k subscribers. And new/returning subscribers pay much less than they did before. Bend the knee capitalism
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

What's so interesting about this whole Heritage Foundation thing is how surprised some of these guys are to discover there are nazis in the maga coalition. Seriously, what did they think trump meant when he said "there are good people on both sides" after 2017's unite the right rally in C'ville?

Menswear history is so much more interesting than I ever thought possible!
If you live in a major city, you may have noticed more people wearing bandanas around their neck, as the accessory has made a small comeback. Typically made from cotton, the bandana — distinct from the ascot — has a long history in working class aesthetics, as it serves a practical function.

This thread is gutting to read. I know @mayorbowser.dc.gov is trying to save home rule, but if you're letting your police dept. help ICE kidnap your Latino residents, tear kids from their parents, and surveil construction sites and schools, you don't really have home rule.
"Our residents are afraid and they are angry. They want the executive to be forthcoming about current policies," says @brianneknadeau.bsky.social opening a hearing on human rights violations during the federal takeover of D.C. and the local government's cooperation with federal agents.

@washingtonpost.com is trying to get readers who canceled their subscriptions to come back. But why would any one pay for propoganda? You can get the old man's yelling at clouds drivel for free on truth social. And, yes, I know some good journos still work there but the stench is too much to bear

This horror fable has 3 very modern villians:
1. a millionaire slumlord hiding behind an LLC
2. a management company doing said slumlord's dirty work
3. A federal police agency (ICE) morphing into the oligarchy's private army.
Eviction By ICE?
Federal immigration agents appear to have targeted Chicago tenants in “deliberate and systematic ways.” They’re still searching for answers about their landlord’s role in the raid.

Great news. USIP's lawyer called MPD thinking they'd help keep DOGE at bay, and instead they helped them get in. That's when I realized MPD wasn't on DC's side and didn't care about home rule. I still remember feeling like someone gut punched me.
NEW — I'm suing DC Metro Police for the full body cam footage from the DOGE raid on the US Institute of Peace back in March.

The public deserves to know why MPD chose to sell out the people they’re tasked with protecting in order to bend to Trump's will. I'm repped pro bono by @rcfp.org.

I would never have expected @politico.com to dig into the current republican zeitgeist in a critical way, but these last few weeks have surprised me. Deep reporting on hateful chats btw young republicans & gleeful references to Hitler by administration nominees. And now a genealogy of GOP toxicity.
Before Trump, and Before the Young Republicans, There Was the Dartmouth Review
Long before Trump, a group of Dartmouth students weaponized outrage and satire to seize the spotlight.
