Sorry to sound like a stuck record, but this is yet another reason why I believe that the physicians who are working for MAGA & MAHA—like Drs Oz, Makary, Bhattacharya, & Prasad—& the physician organizations who are collaborating with Team Trump are complicit in causing pain, harm, suffering & death
Cuts to SNAP and a refusal to fund it during the shutdown, plus the increased cost of food because of his tariffs, means Americans will starve.

PEPFAR for AIDS, USAID programs for TB/HIV, the US support to WHO and GAVI, which provides vaccines like polio & measles to the poorest kids on earth. HIV and measles both cause serious immune system damage, so any epidemic that follows will be deadlier & harder to contain.
The evisceration of CDC is happening at the same time global disease prevention funding like PEPFAR dries up after being line-item deleted by the WH and DOGE. If we can’t contain something we already eradicated and have no more global infrastructure, we have no defense left against another pandemic.

Please read and share this whole thread. It is important. As Alyssa points out, this is the thin end of the wedge. The goal is lowering all vaccine uptake and production which will (and has already started to) destroy herd immunity for other serious, once-nearly-vanished, diseases. Take action now.
“But you can still get the shot if you are at risk.” Oh really? Where? Who will be placing orders for vaccines that are no longer accessible? How many will they order if they order any at all? And how hard will people work to find them? And then what will uptake stats look like? See how it works?
