London - Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow journey times will still be quicker with HS2 to Handsacre. The benefits of tilt are less than they were 20 years ago, with new traction systems and light weight vehicles. Pendolinos by modern standards are heavy (due to tilt equip) and slow to accelerate

It sounds like they're finally thinking about it. But it's all complicated as the contract has already been signed and the depot was supposed to be designed to accommodate 200m long trains. But realistically they can't operate Manchester and Glasgow services with just 200m long sets.
