I dislike how easily people who use ChatGPT for "innocent" purposes dismiss what is being lost in the process

Web searches can seem trivial, but the internet used to be a fabric of people and thoughts

Now it's just becoming AI nonsense and it's utterly soulless, like most things now anyways

Everyone replying to this post with "I just use it for *this* specific thing" are somehow completely oblivious to the fact that all their "innocent" uses of ChatGPT are also contributing to all the uses they don't like

You can't sway the machine into being only useful and never destructive

The police work for billionaires.

They’ll attack a strike, they’ll arrest protesters, and they’ll devote themselves to making CEOs feel safe.

Not only do cops defund our cities, they work overtime to stop us from building a better world.

Continues to be so weird how many writers seem to be gleefully waiting for an excuse to describe a fat person in uncomfortable, gross detail. Like they're SO ready to talk about rolls and sweat and pudgy fingers, and for no reason that actually serves the writing!

Trying to dunk on people's literacy by using... ChatGPT

Since people want to act elitist because they read books, I'd encourage reading into the tech and why it's bad news for anything literary

And I don't know, maybe fostering an attitude towards learning that is caring instead of mean to people
idk if chatgpt was making up some bullshit but i asked it to give me a sample news story written at 12th grade level instead of 4th grade as is usually the case with news media and i was shocked at the idea that what i was reading was too hard for most americans to grasp

Really grim. He murdered a man for being homeless, and got away with it because the man was homeless. We should be clear about this and the fascist implications here.

It's funny when writers are like, "It was important to show that men can be close without being gay." I know the idea is providing a safe space for straight guys to be close. But I'm not sure I buy that you can do that separate from breaking down the need to not be gay. I'm just not convinced

People who see a problem with this are just being nitpicky. Everywhere, the act of consuming books is referred to as "reading" no matter what the act itself looks like. Why do we care if people say "reading" instead of "listening"?

This obsession with making everything "realistic" in media (mainly video games and live-action movies) is one of the big reasons everything mainstream feels so boring now
November 22, 2024 at 10:04 PM
I don't get the appeal of these live action remakes at all. Why are people obsessed with seeing beautifully animated movies turned into awkward CGI?
First poster for the live-action ‘LILO & STITCH’ remake.

it’s about to get very, very hard to be transgender in the united states. likely harder than it’s been in american history. do not let them scare you into backing down. do not give into transphobes framing. stand up to them however you can. it shouldn’t be this way but we have to fight
