Deshalb: Lobt einander, was das Zeug hält! #IchBinHanna

Cutting @rferl.org.web.brid.gy's funding is one of the Trump administration's most blatant acts of Kremlin-friendly sabotage. It's been an invaluable news and archive source in and about the formerly communist-run states of Europe and Central Asia.🧵
Trump has shut down Voice of America and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, ending 80 years of independent journalism.

These media outlets fought censorship, exposed authoritarian regimes, and provided a free press where none existed.

This is a major loss for democracy and global reporting.

Glad to see my article "‘Made in Kyrgyzstan is gold!’ published in @ThirdWorldQ, vol. 45! Based on fieldwork at the Dordoi Bazaar in Bishkek, I argue that asking: "what works" instead of "how can it be formalised" challenges narrow views on growth & development. doi.org/10.1080/0143...

Hi, I am a social anthropologist, currently turning my dissertation into a book studying trading networks in Odesa & Bishkek in light of geopolitical change. I also explore infrastructures (material & imagined) in the lower Danube's borderscape. Hope to connect and exchange on a better platform.
