Imagining what if Dems were in power, and empowered by us, to choose differently than today’s news
Today, hotels can just have a policy that denies services to people based on their local home address. #WhatIfDems? Fine the businesses who enforce this horrible policy to harm everyone just so they can specifically harm homeless people more.
A Hampton Inn in Asheville just canceled my family's reservation because our address (incorrectly) showed Asheville—and the hotel bars locals within 50 miles.

When I asked why, they said, "because of our homeless population," adding that most hotels here have similar policies.

This is outrageous.

"Automakers that nest key controls deep in touchscreen menus—forcing motorists to drive eyes-down rather than concentrate on the road ahead—may have their non-US safety ratings clipped next year." #WhatIfDems? We can have good things here, too.

#WhatIfDems? Reasonable regulation to limit dashboard touch screens and other stuff like this that makes everyone less safe. Give us back real buttons instead of a screen that's bricked when the car is in motion so that even our passengers can't use it.

#WhatIfDems? More of this: less traffic, cleaner air.
Year 1 data on congestion pricing in Manhattan…

* Vehicle traffic: -11%
* Foot traffic: +3.4%
* Storefront vacancy: -0.9%
* Pollution: -22%
* Revenue for mass transit: $548M

So YES this has been a huge success.

Our tax dollars should go to these reasonable, helpful policies that make everyone safer and more prosperous. #WhatIfDems? Support this at the federal level.
Oregon has a rare program that helps people get jobs when they leave prison.

It's made a big difference.

But budget cuts are threatening to end the program, & lawmakers are failing to act to fix it. NEW, check it out: boltsmag.org/oregon-priso...
Budget Cuts Threaten Oregon Program for Helping People Get Jobs After Prison - Bolts
The state had recently expanded the novel program for providing one-on-one career coaching, job fairs behind bars, and support for people after release.

#WhatIfDems? Reasonable, humane solutions for our terminally-ill family members let them plan the end of their lives with dignity.

No more of Republicans' so-called "pro-life" policies that leave our loved ones suffering or recklessly taking their own lives with their own hands.

#WhatIfDems? By the people, for the people.
Newsom is doing what I predicted he and other governers would: building parallel institutions to the ones the Trump administration is destroying at a federal level: www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Wow. This is an absolutely terrifying read. We now live in an age when a single company can, through what appears to be plain old bureaucracy, can more or less brick your entire digital life.

#WhatIfDems? Let’s come together to create more third spaces for communities to grow and thrive

I explained to them the concept of third spaces, and how that's exactly what those kids need. Plus, these days, it's super difficult to find third spaces because almost all of them are either gone or monetised. So a neighbourhood third space for both kids and adults would be nice and is much needed.

#WhatIfDems? Our government stops using dogs to attack innocent US citizens for no reason.
My constituent, Wilmer, was mauled by an ICE attack dog despite the fact that, as he has consistently explained, he was not resisting arrest or trying to flee—his wife and young children, all U.S. citizens, were forced to watch helplessly as Wilmer was violently attacked and dragged away.

#WhatIfDems? Tax the trillionaires.
Elon Musk is about to become the first trillionaire.

The reason poverty exists in the wealthiest country on earth isn't because we can't feed the poor — it's because we can't satisfy the rich.

We should tax trillionaires out of existence.

#WhatIfDems? Level up to the challenge at hand.
I am once again asking United States Senators to take a trial ad class to learn cross examination and witness control techniques plz
One thing to note about Bove’s response re: whistleblower report is that he didn’t explicitly deny making the “fuck you” comment.

Would be interesting to see his response if a senator directly asks him if he denies saying that

Idea: Send a thank you postcard to the Republican who has done something you wish all Rs would do. Send a few more postcards to let the disappointing ones know what it would take for them to earn a praise postcard.
I actually think there are lots of R. politicians and leaders who want to break from the current administration and its ways but are too scared of the real consequences. They need moral courage and people to support them. There is a cost to doing what's right. Yet there is a greater cost to wrong.

#WhatIfDems? American taxpayers get their $220M back for this corrupt ad camp kickback.
The US government under Trump is an epic money laundering scheme. They’re robbing the taxpayers blind for crap nobody asked for!

#WhatIfDems? No more torture paid for by our money.
Most of us have no idea how bad it is inside ICE detention centers because they have kept it hidden. Then a truth teller shows up and says it plain.

The conditions are filthy. The treatment is inhumane. The abuse is Systematic and routine.

#WhatIfDems? No pardons for any violent criminals who re-offend, and no exceptions for the perpetrators of violence in Trump’s name.
This is so so disturbing. Trump is now pardoning January 6th rioters for unrelated crimes, just to reward them for their violence to keep him in power.

The Republican Party is in the full time business of endorsing and incentivizing political violence. So scary.

Looking more like Gilead every day. #WhatIfDems? The Handmaid’s Tale goes back to being fiction. (Or at least, not based on life in America today.)
This all-male panel is deciding whether South Carolina women can be charged with murder for their pregnancies — and whether birth control and pro-choice websites stay legal.

This a real thing happening today. Don't look away.

#WhatIfDems? End the unpopular, unhealthy, dangerous, and costly biannual inconvenience of daylight savings time.

For ICE, this sheriff detained a Native American—someone whose ancestors were here before these borders existed! #WhatIfDems? Our immigration officials leave our Native countrymen in peace and focus on solving… immigration issues.
This is why I talk about sheriffs a lot when it to comes to immigration: they decide (in most states) on whether to hold people for ICE at all!
ICE abducted Leticia Jacobo and tried to deport her, she is Native American.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office, which held her for ICE, admitted that it was a ‘clerical error’.

Her family fought through layers of bureaucracy to stop her from being disappeared.
