W.E.B. Du Bois on Robert E. Lee:

“Either he knew what slavery meant when he helped maim and murder thousands in its defense, or he did not. If he did not he was a fool. If he did, Robert Lee was a traitor and a rebel–not indeed to his country, but to humanity and humanity’s God.”

@markwarner.bsky.social people are being kidnapped by ICE in your state, within 15 minutes of your house. How dare you celebrate *anything* this administration is doing on immigration.
Mark Warner on Fox: "I may disagree with the president, but I respect the office of the president. I'm probably not gonna be jumping up applauding a lot, but I owe him his due as president. The president has made great, great progress on border crossings. That's something we ought to celebrate."

Historian of Reconstruction here this is disqualifying even though SCOTUS has given up on the 14th amendment.
Padilla: Will you defend birthright citizenship as the law of the land?

Bondi: I will study birthright citizenship

Padilla: You're asking to be considered for Attorney General and you still need to study the 14th Amendment of the Constitution?
