I need to curtail my "I'm so glad I live in a place where I can...." posts, because ultimately, I believe in people, not states. And states are built to prioritize themselves over people.

A must read for those who haven’t been burdened by astronomical treatment costs from cancer. This is the primary reason why an estimated 50% of cancer patients are forced into bankruptcy because treatment is too expensive for the average American.

The Price of Remission
When I was diagnosed with cancer, I set out to understand why a single pill of Revlimid cost the same as a new iPhone. I’ve covered high drug prices as a reporter for years. What I discovered shocked ...

It isn't that America lacks courage. It's that we’ve become so cut off from one another that many of us feel alone, which makes us feel afraid.

But when we are surrounded by courageous people, all of us become more courageous.

Courage is contagious.

"On Tyranny" is a #1 NYT bestseller again. I wish the moment were different. But I’m glad the book is useful. And grateful for all the kind words about putting the 20 lessons to work.

After moving nearly 8 years ago to our lovely farming community, situated 10 minutes from various local beaches, I’ve finally decided to try my hand at raised bed vegetable gardening. Currently planted: 2 types of tomatoes. Next will be strawberries, and green beans.

Don’t shame people for not immediately reading all the books they buy. Some books aren’t made to be ready right away, okay? Some books need time to mature. Some books need to cure for a while. Some books are prosciutto, and don’t you forget it.
