I'm an epidemiologist so I try to use specific and accurate terms lest people draw the wrong conclusions, but also I have looked around and noticed that people with Long Covid and people who have recently lost someone are offended when people refer to Covid in past tense, so I don't.

There are a lot of people IRL who will be outraged at the thought of mitigating the risks to children via wearing masks etcetera.
