Transformers fan and comic nerd, he/him. I mostly lurk and reply.

About 15 to 20 years ago, I needed a username to post on some video game site that doesn't exist anymore. 1979's Alien was on TV, and it was at the scene where they talked about using a prod to corral the alien.

And that's why I have this weird username.
(Spoilers for recent Transformers comics)

Remember the discourse a month or two ago about how violent and grimdark the Skybound Transformers comics are, placing the blame on Robert Kirkman?

I periodically forget that there's a show called Taskmaster and think there's suddenly a big fandom for the Marvel villain.

So, Bill's speech about Superman in Kill Bill Volume 2. I remember people debating if it was a deliberately bad take because it's put forth by the villain, but is it any worse than any of Tarantino's actual takes?

Run by Nick Lutsko is my favorite song of the year.

Not only is it just incredible, but the lyrics perfectly capture my feelings on the rat race of being an entertainer and the struggle to convince myself that I belong anywhere.

Thanks again, @nicklutsko.bsky.social.

Another annoying thing about that AI Coke ad is that M&Ms get a lot of good will out of just reusing their old Santa commercial year after year. If they didn't want to pay for a new one, nobody would've questioned them rolling out an old polar bear commercial.

Target crashed and burned here years ago but I'm living vicariously watching every terrible story about them. Partnering with Starbucks while they're facing an unrelated boycott? ChatGPT? It's like they're looking for every rake they can step on.

I was today years old when I realized the Treehouse of Horror segment 'Clown Without Pity' was probably named after this movie.

My favorite small detail in Last Crusade is that Walter Donovan comments that the Nazis want to write themselves into the grail legend. What does Hitler do when he's holding Henry's grail diary? He signs his autograph.

He writes his name in the grail legend.
RIP Tom Stoppard.

Hardly his most important work, but I remember having my mind blown by learning he had rewritten most of the dialogue on INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE, one of the funniest movies ever made

I keep seeing 'no one remembers the names of the characters in Avatar', and I just think... that's pretty normal? Other than John Wick I can't remember the names of any characters in the John Wick movies aside from Lance Reddick's Charon. On a good day I can recall Ian McShane's character.

I used to use 'thinks Hunger Games is a Battle Royale ripoff' as shorthand for media illiteracy. Everything they have in common is generic as hell and has been done dozens of times before. I recall when people cried that anything with infiltrators or imposters was a Battlestar Galactica ripoff.

Muppet Die Hard.

Cleverer people than me refined the concept, but my contribution was Link Hogthrob as the Huey Lewis looking guy at the front desk.
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

I don't exactly how old Nightwing/Dick Grayson is supposed to be in current continuity, but I've got to be 15-20 years older than him. In my lifetime, Batman media is the only place I've seen Dick used as a preferred name by someone under 40 and not a slang term.

Big respect to the Bride of Frankenstein, a story invented for the movie, opening with Mary Shelley declaring "And this it what happened next."

The current pope was 21 years old when Star Wars came out. It's very likely that the next pope or the one after will have Star Wars as a formative childhood memory.

We could finally see Pope Lando II.

Nearly two months ago they released 10 episodes of Futurama in one go and I still haven't started on them. If they had been one a week I probably would've tried to keep up with them as they came out.

Cuomo did not write that down.
It turns out that being endorsed by people your voters actively hate is a BAD thing. Someone should write that down.

I imagined that Attack the Block took place in the same universe as Doctor Who, and the Doctor never showed up at that building because the characters dealt with the aliens on their own.

(This was my headcanon before Jodie Whittaker was the Doctor, I'm not sure how that factors in now.)
Name movie or tv universes that aren’t connected but should be.
