Remember: The oligarchs who control our economy and democracy seek to divide us so they can become more powerful.

They want us to turn on each other so we don't look up and see where all the wealth and power have gone.

Don't fall for it.

Poverty is a policy choice. Concentrated wealth is a policy choice. Inequality is a policy choice. None of it is natural or inevitable. Remember: We have the power to build a system that serves the many, not the powerful few.

Corruption so pungent, it wafts right off the page:

Lobbyists who do pardon deals “say their going rate is $1 million. Pardon-seekers have offered some lobbyists close to the president success fees of as much as $6 million if they can close the deal.”

This is perfect. The DOJ's embarrassing snafu with disappearing redactions was the fault of Elon Musk. Musk cancelled government subscriptions to Adobe programs that would have made the redactions permanent. What a pack of fools.

‘Tis the season for reindeer to occupy people’s minds — and decorate their sweaters. But these charismatic cervines are more than holiday icons; they are culturally important yet bizarre arctic animals. (from 2016)

Axios has learned the White House has begun managing the DOJ's account on X to respond to posts highlighting mentions of Trump in the Epstein files.

In typical administrations, there is a wall between the White House and what is supposed to be an independent Justice Department.
Scoop: Trump administration expects Epstein files release could last another week
The White House has begun managing the DOJ's account on X, an effort to finish out the year and the Epstein file disclosure requirements set by Congress.

Today I received FOUR death notifications for people in ICE custody. That's 30 deaths since Trump took office. It's appalling & unacceptable.

ICE is required—by law—to ensure detainees are safe & their basic needs are met. It's clear this isn't the case. We NEED answers.

NCAR is quite literally our global mothership.

Everyone who works in climate and weather has passed through its doors and benefited from its incredible resources.

Dismantling NCAR is like taking a sledgehammer to the keystone holding up our scientific understanding of the planet.

Unbelievable.

Awful
NEW: President Trump is expanding the previous 19-country travel ban to a whopping 39 countries (plus the Palestinian Authority), and appears to expand a block on legal immigration to now include spouses, children, and parents of U.S. citizens, who were previously exempted.

The ACA isn't just "health care for people who don't have a conventional employer." It also disallows something that was incredibly common 20 years ago, which I fear is getting lost to generational memory: insurance companies could deny you health care for essentially any previous health problem.
I'm dubious about Amazon's commitment to keeping pre-existing conditions a thing of the past.

An Australian trauma surgeon, who is a friend of a friend, said in a group chat that in her entire 20-year career she has only treated TWO gunshot victims.

TWO.

Can any American trauma surgeon who has also practiced for twenty years say the same?

I highly doubt it.

Take a moment to meet FDA Commissioner Marty Makary. He is the guy who is leading the agency that is working overtime to enrich his MAHA patrons by taking away your kids’ access to vaccines & essential medicines. He’s replacing evidence-based regulation with corruption.
FDA Commissioner Marty Makary built his platform not on science but on spectacle. Makary turned a medical career into a megaphone for misinformation. Once a surgeon and professor, he built his brand on public skepticism, rising to power by attacking the very scientific standards he now oversees.

I learned that Makary & his top vaccine regulator Vinay Prasad forced FDA scientists to withdraw a paper from Vaccine. I am co-Editor-in-Chief of Vaccine. The data had been presented publicly. It showed the benefits outweigh the risks of COVID vaccines for all ages.

Whistleblowers say Makary silenced internal researchers who supported COVID-19 vaccine access. Their studies were buried or delayed. The agency meant to protect public health is now struggling to protect its own scientists from retaliation.

They coined the term “useless eaters”.

They tested the gas chambers on us.

They knew most people wouldn’t fight to save our lives.

That’s why the President using the R slur is so dangerous.
