It’s so sad the Trump’s armed militia needs a the military to come in and protect them against unarmed women and old men.

Hawley and Young backed down from the measure to prevent military action in Venezuela. Because they trusted Marco Rubio. What idiots!

HAPPENING NOW: In federal court in MN, DOJ is struggling to articulate why a person following an ICE vehicle — so long as they are obeying traffic laws — can be stopped for "reasonable suspicion" of a crime.

Judge Menendez sharply questioning that contention.

I grew up in the South, where many white people still claim to be haunted by the Union "invasion" of their ancestors' territory. But at least their ancestors knew the Union's objective, which was to end slavery. There is no clearly expressed objective for the violence in MN.

Minnesota AG Keith Ellison: "There is no statute of limitations on murder. So this case is not going to be over even if they try to block a high quality investigation."

Q: Would you rule out bringing Trump in for an interview?

It is, we all have to admit, very funny to respond to Exxon’s statement saying they don’t want to invest in Venezuela by not allowing them to invest in Venezuela. www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

She is correct. No time like the present.
We just had a week that changed everything, including my view of impeachment. Before: Wait until 2027. Now: Embrace it in 2026 and hold hearing-like forums to spotlight the many articles of impeachment filed against Trump and his cabinet. My latest @thebulwark.com www.thebulwark.com/p/embracing-...
Embracing Impeachment
The case against Trump and his cabinet keeps growing—and the argument for waiting is no longer convincing.

They want us to close the shades, hide inside, do what they say. They want us to run away. When they discover that the people they thought they’d intimidate are running TOWARDS them instead, they’ve got nothing. Like all bullies they only feel strong and confident when the victim is defenseless.

The pathetic flopsweat performances of Noem and Homan on the Sunday news shows is a good reminder that when you staff an administration with hateful stupid thugs, they'll handle the "fucking around" part well enough but will be utterly useless when the "finding out" begins.

One problem the administration has is that Americans are not going to see ICE protesters as "lunatics." They are more likely to think it's "lunatic" of the President to promise to deport criminals, but then pardon them while deporting the innocent.

This is the sort of stuff we need to be paying attention to instead of whining about fascism.
Just to be clear, Bernie Sanders and Josh Hawley proposed a bill in the Senate a year ago, along with AOC and Luna in the House, to cap interest rates on credit cards at 10%. It is nice that Trump has suddenly decided to get on board with it in an election year.

He’s right: this is not a collapsed state. We still have civic power. Elections can’t just be canceled. Courts won’t close. Martial law isn’t coming. American democracy is wounded, not dead. Pressure is maintenance. Keep pushing relentlessly, without despair. Nihilism isn’t insight. It’s abdication.
Many of you have become drama-addicted doomers, and you seem to think it's important for the rest of us to join you.

Yes, things are bad. But change is within our power. Grow up. Act like sober, responsible adults in a democracy instead of cynical, all-is-lost teenagers.

Now get off my lawn.

ICE's mission isn't really clear. If they have so much time to stand in the street arguing with Minneapolis residents, and to shoot them and deal with all that fallout, then it seems that killing liberal citizens must be their actual mission, is it not?

Apparently Fox cut off the derogatory term Ross used at the end of his video. Fed govt argues that Ross has absolute immunity, which is ridiculous. I think prosecuting him would be risky, but I think the feds also realize that Ross is an unprofessional punk and a liability.
January 9, 2026 at 10:19 PM
In the long run, I think it will be a bad idea for the administration to have released Ross's video. We've all driven cars before. We all can see that she's trying to drive away from ICE. Surely Ross is agile enough that he could have walked a few steps back, like a normal person would. He had time.

No global warming is not a hoax. Call these people out on their hypocrisy. It would be far more productive than whining about fascism.
NATO Ambassador Whitaker on Greenland: "As the ice recedes and we do have some thawing and passageways open up in the arctic, obviously the approaches to the US in North America are more dangerous." (So global warming isn't a hoax apparently ... )

Rep. Randy Fine: "If you impede the actions of our law enforcement as they seek to repel foreign invaders from our country, you get what's coming to you. I do not feel bad for the woman that was involved."

- file impeachment articles every day in the House

- withhold unanimous consent in the senate and filibuster every nominee

- be everywhere with comms saying this is lawless and impeachable

Trump will kill another American. For sport. To distract people from the economy. Whatever. We must keep up peaceful protests demanding that the administration admit they erred in killing Renee Good. Keep public attention focused on the evil of this administration.

This is spot on. Nonetheless, Noem's words will be unsettling to true conservatives, a group which I suspect is reasonably well represented in Minnesota.
The pro States Rights people were lying. They just wanted your fool ass to write a bunch of political theory op eds about fed vs state govt until they were in control and they made you look like a goddamn idiot. Debate me is such good bait for idiots who read one book and lots of pundits ate it up
Noem on Minnesota officials: "They have not been cut out. They don't have any jurisdiction in this investigation."
