An honor to meet Catherine.

We should honor public servants like her, not vilify them like Trump and Musk have.

During his marathon Senate speech, @booker.senate.gov read a letter from Catherine Baker, a fmr USAID contractor.

See Booker and Baker meet for the first time during MSNBC's town hall "100 Days of Trump: Forced Out Federal Workers."

"It means the world to have my voice elevated," Baker said.

I've been shown what purports to be a draft version of a soon to be released Executive Order reorganizing the State Dept. The chain of custody is a bit indirect and it's important to be clear that there can be many versions of such orders circulating and they can be subject to subsequent edits etc.

USIP staffers were alerted of the lockdown by an announcement over the PA system from security. The alert did not specify what was happening, just that people could not leave the building.

BREAKING—The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) office was just on lockdown for close to an hour while members of the DOGE team tried to enter the building, multiple people have told me. Security has now escorted out remaining staffers who’ve been told to telework until further notice.

Even with a GOP controlled Congress, not everyone is monolithic even if it seems so from the outside. Keep up the calls, letters, visits to the Hill. It’s the only way we can salvage something. It matters to every person we help and every person who has dedicated their lives to this vital work.
