I know half of the US is heading out to SDCC but if you all spare a morsel of attention for an indie comic kickstarter in its last hours?

Midnight Mystics has less than 72 hrs left to make its goal!

Confession: I'm here mainly to try to lure people to my Substack, since I work f-ing hard on it. I'm keeping these three pieces on the homepage unpaywalled, as a taste of what's there. If you hate them, you'll no doubt despise the rest. If you enjoy them you can subscribe here: tomcox.substack.com

Beautiful
Sunrise was lovely today here in Glastonbury but watching the pigeons making nests in St Michael's tower was nicer. 😂

Here's a nice warm weather image. This is a ground nesting furrow bee. They make underground brood cells that are lined to keep them waterproof and stock the cells with pollen and nectar for developing larvae.

I feel this. The urge to at the very least archly raise an eyebrow at some voters is very real and also utterly fucking aside the point. The past happened; we have things on fire right now. Litigating the past is a luxury item. Dealing with the present is a necessity.
Friends:

I do not want to see any kvetching about people on the left who didn't vote for Harris. Those mistakes didn't decide this.

White supremacists & whoever else wouldn't vote for a Black woman did this. Misogynoir.

The enemy is WHITE SUPREMACY and FASCISM.

Solidarity time. Now. Shore up.

A clear night so I couldn't resist a wander amongst the stars. Taken in Glastonbury about 30 minutes ago. Sheep nestle below the wonder at the bottom of the scene.

A stormy start to the week here in Glastonbury. The one good thing about changeable and stormy conditions is that the sky changes in a blink of an eye. From rain to sun within about 10 minutes and then back to rain again.

Reading a few things at once, but tonight I read the first utterly glorious, funny, and loony chapter of Tom Cox’s Villager, published by Unbound @unbounders.bsky.social (so I must have ordered this from the library because of @johnmitchinson.bsky.social or @iammilliam.bsky.social). It’s so good!

After the map my dad drew for my first novel, Villager, I persuaded him to do another for the Nottinghamshire mining village where the action in my second, 1983, takes place. We were too late for the hardback last year but it's in the paperback, which will be published this summer.
