This report should have panicked everyone on the left into concerted, coordinated effort to address the information asymmetry. But as far as I can tell it just came & went & Dems are still in "buy TV ads about affordability" mode.

It's increasingly clear that the president lives in a constructed bubble of unreality designed by aides who are manipulating him in order to take control of US policy. Seems like an important story - wish media would cover it.

I think it's important to remember at certain points that this Administration has accomplished absolutely nothing.

They got some tax cuts, they've done a bunch of choreographed immigration raids, killed a bunch of people by cutting and closing agencies, and droned some boats. That's literally it.

We’ve never had a shutdown under a competitive authoritarian regime before. This matters because the rules of the game have changed. If congressional leaders act as if the old rules apply, they will lose. The executive seeks to consolidate power and does not negotiate in good faith.

This, plus 20 Republicans who want to be remembered forever as patriots, rather than totally forgotten 20 years from now, & it can all be over. It won't happen, in part, because those 20 Republicans are never asked any questions by anyone in the media about the fascism.

In a sane country with competent leadership, the 50 highest-ranking Democrats would call a press conference to denounce what just happened as a threat to the republic and demand Trump's immediate impeachment and removal from office.

I don't know he could make his intentions more clear.

I listened to the whole exchange between Ta-Nehisi Coates and Ezra Klein, and to the original "Charlie Kirk Was Practicing Politics the Right Way" column, and among the takes this piece is the best I have read. Long-ish, so set aside a bit of time. (Disclosure: I have been on Ezra's show...)
I really appreciated this thoughtful piece about Ta-Nehisi Coates & Ezra Klein. Andrea Pitzer says “lost” folks like Klein “don’t have a clear idea how this moment fits into history and what it is exactly that they’re doing”. [degenerateart.beehiiv.com]
