did you know? trans people are under represented in the statistics of mass shooters. there have only been 3 in the last 10 years, but if trans people did mass shootings as often as cis people there would have been between that many trans shooters so far this year alone

cancel your spotify subscription and spend that $10 on bandcamp every month. even if you pirate all of the other music you listen to, artists will still be making way more money than they would if you listened to everything on a streaming service
@carrie_is_gay 0 seconds ago i think the world would be a much better place if people bought one or two albums a month with the money they'd otherwise spend on streaming and just pirate everything else they listen to. you can say some streaming platforms are better than others (and you'd be right), but even the ones with high payouts are devaluing music. let's do some math: scenario 1: you release an album and 1000 people listen to it on streaming. if the album has 10 songs you end up with 10,000 streams. if that streaming service has a payout of 1 cent per stream, you've made $100. now, let's look at... scenario 2: you release an album in a world where people spend $10 on a single album per month instead of spotify and just pirate everything else, and again, 1000 people listen to your album. if you assume your average listener listens to 10 albums a month, you have a 1 in 10 chance of being the 1 album your listener pays for that month. 1000 listeners divided by 10 is 100 listeners who will pay $10 for your album, and $10 multiplied by 100 listeners is $1000. the bright among us will notice that $1000 is 10 times as much as the $100 you'd make on streaming, and nobody would be paying any more money than they are currently for their music! i know the math in scenario 2 isn't perfect and is working on a lot of assumptions, but i hope y'all can see what i'm getting at.
