wellington's weather isn't good enough to justify cycle infrastructure but it is good enough to justify having an outdoor pool

Just catching up on Luxon's Q+A interview (yikes) and something that I noted was he kept saying that rents have stopped rising under this government.

That isn't true. Not only are rents rising fast relative to past years, they're now rising faster than wages

Almost didn't go due to the no bikes on buses making it more logistically difficult to get to the start line. But Happy 30th Birthday Cycle Wellington. Absolutely loved riding in a group from Island Bay to the waterfront especially with Mr12 confidently riding his own bike.

In Wellington’s morning peak, buses are only 3% of the vehicles on Thorndon Quay but carry 60% of the people. On Adelaide Road buses are 1% of the traffic, but 40% of the people. Want more people in the city without more congestion? Fund more bus lanes, and higher capacity, higher frequency buses.

The Seattle Aquarium’s new facility, which has its grand opening today, contains a feature I’ve never seen at any aquarium anywhere in the world- and I’ve been to a lot.

There’s a window to see into the big tank from outside the building. You don’t need to buy a ticket to view it.

These 2 stories side by side are comedy gold. "Victory" against more residents living in the neighbourhood, but their local pool is having to be shut in part because it is the least used and need more ratepayers. 🤔
