Canada has nothing akin to the American “girl next-door“, or the “all American” high school football star. We are not driven or expected to achieve a specific image or lifestyle. Canadian culture truly permits us to be individuals. I believe this is the genesis of our many artists and comedians.

Ford's gravy train

Company that failed to deliver medication to elderly and palliative patients received $18 million from the Skills Development Slush Fund.

When taxes and contracts are given to Conservative donors—patients are left in pain.

Americans pay some of the highest prices in the world for health care, and Leigh McGowan knows that first hand.

Democrats are fighting to lower health care costs. Instead of helping to fix this crisis, Republicans are shutting down the government.

History gives us plenty of examples of disease used as a weapon. There are fewer cases of governments deliberately using disease against their own citizens. We are living (or dying) through one right now.

I get a lot of stuff wrong but my early call on all of this was that it's simply wrong to engage in this as an argument over congestion policy. I said on the podcast that it is, instead, an argument over who has the right to public space — and the Premier has decided the allocation.
I don't want to shock anyone, but I don't think that removing the bike lanes is going to improve congestion. The provincial government is putting people at risk for a few parking spots in midtown Toronto.

It is as essential for Canada to diversify and continue to spread its trade relationships with many countries around the world, as it is to have a well balanced financial portfolio as opposed to having most of our eggs in the US basket.

I’ve advised Helsinki, Finland a few times in the past, and among the many conversations I’ve had with the Finns, we’ve talked about what it’s like to live right next to an aggressive dictatorship like Russia.

I’m not the first one to say it, but Canada needs to be vigorously learning from Finland.

Doug Ford, stop blaming young people for your failures.

Young people are looking for jobs. Your government isn't creating them.

Ontario lost 26,000 jobs in August and has Canada’s 2nd highest unemployment rate. Youth unemployment is at 16.5%

Well, take a look at violent crime rates by province (2023 figures here).
Guess what?
The gun-loving provinces and territories have by far the worst rates, Ontario the lowest.
Does that mean more guns = more violent crime?

We need to accept that in 2025 that no matter what the party in power does in Canada, the conservative opposition and their followers are going to say it’s wrong and cry about it. That’s baked in now. It’s a cult. A cult never disagrees with the leader.

In Canada, millions can barely afford rent — let alone own a home.

The housing crisis won't be solved with tax breaks or by pouring public $$ into for-profit development.

We need:
✅ Rent & vacancy control
✅ Public, affordable & co-op housing
✅ No handouts to corporate developers
