The war will end when Russia stops fighting. Therefore, pressure has to be put on Russia, so that they stop believing that they will win. Why is that so hard to understand?

This, it seems, is an early preview of Trump’s lasting political legacy: Republicans are no longer apologizing, nor are they pushing out racist, bigoted allies when they inevitably find themselves embroiled in controversy. trib.al/Zhl2amF

The prevailing myth is only a few, wealthy families owned slaves. While that myth surely makes some neo-Confederate, treason apologists feel better, the reality of slaveholding in the South is mind-numbing.

Prime example of white privilege in plain sight.

Black kids get called adults to justify blame, while white adults get called “kids” to excuse their hate. They’re not boys and girls, they’re grown-ass men and women, and the receipts are in writing.

It is pretty galling that the Supreme Court spent four years telling Biden "you can't do that without Congress" then allowed Trump to seize a once-unthinkable amount of power from Congress within nine months and concentrate law-making authority almost entirely in the executive branch.

Sounds like Republicans ought to get all the Republicans who form the Republican majorities in the Republican-led House and the Republican-led Senate together to pass the budget that Republicans wrote with the Republican White House and that Republicans now insist absolutely must be passed.

I kinda remember Trump pardoning a bunch of people for this, many of whom beat up cops and put them in the hospital. I think they were yelling something about the Vice President as they stormed the building.

There’s no evidence that any leftist group or network had anything to do with Kirk’s murder. Even Cox said he acted alone.

They’re going to try to claim the people who celebrated his death or ridiculed him are supporting terrorism, map out any groups they’re affiliated with, and work backward.
Stephen Miller: “We are gonna channel all the anger we have over the organized campaign to led to this assassination to uproot & dismantle these terrorist networks … we are going to use every resource we have at the DOJ, Homeland Security & throughout this govt to dismantle & destroy these networks"

The majority of political violence comes from the far right, but we’re supposed to treat it as a “both sides” problem.

The majority of mass shooters are white males with extreme right wing ideologies, but we’re supposed to focus our outrage on the trans community and liberal colleges.

To forget Kirk’s words is to dishonor his memory.

This is interesting, but like, these two realities of kirk are not nearly on even footing.

Goebbels had 6 kids and apparently, I've learned on Bluesky this week, "made a great strudel."

Its much more important to know their horrors than the times they did something nice.

This is an important thread. It seems weirdly disrespectful to try to turn Kirk into something he clearly despised.
As someone who spent many hours listening to Kirk’s show on AM radio, I would say that he made Rush Limbaugh seem like Walter Cronkite by comparison, in terms of rhetorical tone and empirical rigor. The subtext of every show was “You don’t hate the left enough.”
My sense is that most Americans had not heard of Charlie Kirk until yesterday. The first and perhaps only thing they're going to hear about him from the most trusted and important voices in American politics is that he was a model and constructive participant in good-faith political discourse.
