Unfortunately, Bluesky is unavailable in Mississippi right now, due to a new state law that requires age verification for all users.

While intended for child safety, we think this law poses broader challenges & creates significant barriers that limit free speech & harm smaller platforms like ours.

It’s kinda crazy that we now live in a world where it’s assumed that computers will write better stories than you, paint better than you and create software better than you. And your competitive advantage is now that you can fix toilets and flip burgers while computers can’t.

I believe, historically, that crisis pregnancy centers have been bad. Though, the centers in this article that are working against the typical centers, might not be so bad ✌🏻
For years, crisis pregnancy centers have been at the forefront of the anti-abortion movement’s agenda to target women navigating unplanned pregnancies.

Now, the state's reproductive rights advocates are flipping the script and have opened Arkansas's first pro-choice "crisis pregnancy center.”
Anti-abortion playbook, flipped: Arkansas abortion fund opens its own "crisis pregnancy center"

we are living in a time of profound suffering and profound opportunity. restoring the post-war status quo is not a solution, and the real roadblock to fixing our country is that nearly all of the will to be innovative is on the side of the fascists.

AI isn't acceptable because "most students already use it anyway." That's a dumb rationale for using and teaching it in school. Notice they never credibly say it will improve students comprehension, critical thinking, and application skills.

More than 40 percent of U.S. citizens are in some form of medical debt.

These Americans explain why they left for Italy, South Korea and France, after crippling debt or a lack of coverage left them afraid to seek medical help at home.

Oh to be a woman in this world right now
A bit late but I wrote about the WNBA sex toy incidents @msnbc.com:

“Hopefully, this incredibly stupid trend has finally played itself out. With a few weeks left before the playoffs, WNBA players deserve so much better than to be exploited for some childish misogyny.”

Nice read
In an era of globalization and of populism, zombies provide a vivid metaphor for being swept away—by a political movement, or by historical forces beyond your comprehension, Katy Waldman writes.
