Thanks for bringing this up! Accessibility to the centre of London should always be considered at the heart of any planning. Not only do more of us develop access needs as we grow older but when accessibility for mobility issues is baked in it also helps families, those with luggage, anyone really!

Thank you @inclusionlondon.bsky.social for spotting my questioning of the Mayor yesterday at budget plenary where I was checking that the interests of deaf and disabled Londoners are baked into the project to pedestrianise Oxford St in a meaningful way through co-production not just consultation.

Pension justice. No disability cuts. Hands off Motability. Living wages and grants. We need rent controls. Stop hate & division. Make the rich pay. Stop the cuts.

We struggled through decades of austerity only to find Labour didn't care about us anymore - more interested in cutting the welfare budget and 'getting [us] back into work', while making it even harder to actually work as a disabled person.

Reform will be worse.

Those protestors built us a foundation to continue the fight for liberation and inclusion of all disabled people. The protections they got for us all have saved countless lives - because exclusion from society isn't just difficult, it can be deadly.

Taking cues from the suffragetes, incredible disabled activists handcuffed themselves to buses (alongside other direct action) to demand that disabled people get legal protections from discrimination.

have the guts to stand up to Starmer

The Labour government's changes to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) will drive disabled people further into poverty. Scrap the plans now!

Join us tomorrow, 1:30pm in Old Market Square, along with charity Disability Support, Notts TUC and Unite Community to stand for a more humane welfare system.

Keir Starmer's 'concessions' on the cruel welfare bill are not good enough and would create an unjust two-tier benefits system.

The Green Party is calling on Labour MPs to stand firm against this inadequate offer and for the Prime Minister to withdraw the bill.

Labour are playing parliamentary games at the cost of disabled peoples’ lives.

This compromise is just that.
It’s making a deadly policy only slightly less deadly.

Disabled people deserve support, not austerity.

Disabled people are not a political deal. As these back-room conversations happen, has anyone thought of the Disabled people whose lives will be impacted?

The Government is still attempting to slash billions of pounds from a system that doesn't provide enough support as it is.

We will still be protesting as the consultation is still incredibly unfair - with the most controversial proposals STILL not up for discussion!

🚨A welcome Government U-Turn on the winter fuel payment, which they have restored to 7.5 million pensioners.

These cuts should never have been proposed in the first place - to save another embarrassment, the Government should reverse their disability benefit cut plans now too.
