Government announcement on Timms Review. The government says it aims for a majority of the Timms Review steering group to be Disabled people. We call for: At least 75% of the members to be Disabled people, so our voices are heard Steering group members from different impairment groups, including people with mental health support needs, neurodivergent people and people with learning difficulties. They should represent the diversity of our communities This is an opportunity to influence and protect the future of PIP; however the review must be seen in the context of the wider agenda, which is about cuts and abolishing the Work Capability Assessment. We want to be involved in a genuine co-production process that leads to policies that improve our lives. We want to ensure that this co-production is real and will not force us to co-develop cuts.

The genocide and future of Gaza are disability justice issues. We stand in solidarity with Palestinians and all those disabled, harmed and distressed by this genocide including here in our communities and our city. Inclusion London will: Work with other Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisations (DDPOs) to raise awareness of Gaza as a key disability justice issue. Work with other DDPOs to call on the UK government, including the Minister for Disabled people, to act on the government demands detailed in our statement. Find ways of actively supporting Palestinians in our DDPO sector and movement such as setting up a peer support group for Disabled Palestinians. Create space and resources for discussion and action for DDPOs and Disabled activists wanting to build intersectional solidarity in response to the genocide.

This is deeply concerning. The lack of investigation of non-crime hate incidents removes a vital safeguard, making it harder to prevent hostility that escalates to hate crime. The result will be that it's even harder for Disabled victims to get justice. bbc.in/48G1Pw1
