Like I've said before, if you have any doubts about climate change, just go to a super-boring insurance conference and listen to the super-boring panels where they dryly talk about the growing threat of disasters so catastrophic and unpredictable in scope they simply cannot be insured at any price.
Wild how the Fed chair saying that *entire regions of the United States* won’t be able to get a mortgage in the next decade barely registered as a news event

Nature ran a piece finding that 25 million people could die as a result of ending USAID. This puts Trump and Musk in the category of the most brutal leaders of the 20th century in terms of unnecessary lives lost.

Succinctly states where we are and what's happening. These three things, in addition to doing much else, are the sheet anchors of American wealth and power.
Three things made the US a rich and powerful nation: the rule of law, its science & innovation system, and openness to foreign talent. Remarkable how Trump has taken a sledgehammer to all three. No enemy of this country could do more.

The AEA decision granting the temporary injunction to the NDTX detainees illustrates how the Trump admin shot itself in the foot with Abrego Garcia. By insisting they can’t fix an error, they increased the irreparable harm and need for urgency in protecting due process rights

The Trump administration has settled on One Weird Trick to avoid judicial review: Kill nationwide injunctions, refuse to respect lower court rulings, and keep cases away from the Supreme Court indefinitely.

Oddly, it was Kagan and BARRETT who hammered this yesterday. slate.com/news-and-pol...

And, from 95 days ago, on Jan. 25, here was my piece on how "he has immunity" isn't the end of the discussion:
The immunity decision does not mean that Trump can do anything now
The new administration is extreme, but that is not an excuse to say "there's no point." Also: The Trump administration has already started to take action at SCOTUS.

Last night was the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere's midnight ride to warn the Minutemen of approaching British troops.

I want to take a moment to share an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence's grievances against King George III.

Remind you of anyone?

This is an unusual order for several reasons, suggesting the majority thought it necessary. This was issued:
• after midnight
• before the government even responded (perhaps most irregular)
• while a Fifth Circuit request remains pending &
• before a dissenting justice could finish their statement.

One point that's going to get lost in the discussion of #SCOTUS's intervention in the Alien Enemy Act case:

This is the *value* of nationwide injunctions. Without them, you have to go district by district, and the government can try to play games by moving people to districts without relief (yet).
