No matter how bad you imagine smallpox was, it was worse than that.
Ben Franklin on inoculation, after his son died from smallpox.

“In 1736, I lost one of my sons, a fine boy of four years old, by the small-pox, taken in the common way. I long regretted bitterly, and still regret that I had not given it to him by inoculation”.

Hey, your "nothing's going to happen" reply has been seen and *deeply* deeply appreciated.

If you'd like to go sit in the corner with your depressing doomerism while the rest of us try to make something happen, that'd be terrific.

No, no, a little farther away. Keep going.

In an admission of intellectual weakness, the Washington Post’s billionaire owner, Jeff Bezos, announced that the paper will no longer publish perspectives critical of the economic status quo.

If his ideas are defensible, why is he so squeamish about debate?

One of the key points of non-violent direct action is to force the authorities to stop you -- to force their hand, to make them arrest you, and yes, perhaps even make them lash out in violence -- and to broadcast those images to an otherwise apathetic public.

Be confrontational, not compliant.

There is a simple solution to the CBS/Trump lawsuit.

The Harris campaign should sue Fox and insist Fox release the unedited versions of all their many edited interviews with Trump.

On immigration policy, Donald Trump isn’t as radically different from Barack Obama and Joe Biden as his inflammatory rhetoric suggests.

Each has built upon his predecessor’s efforts to make border militarization and mass deportations the norm.

Genuine question: is there any authorization, anything at all, for a so-called Department of Government Efficiency? an executive order? Anything?

Is anyone working for that “department” a government employee? Or is it just a straight up private sector takeover?
