Imagine being in a world where instead of everything everywhere all of the time grating your braincells into dust the best news was a dude on a horse but with our modern news happening

Right. The years and billions of dollars spent preparing are why Y2K didn’t “live up to the hype.” They *fixed* it. Before it happened. Which is good. Yes.

People feared the computer glitch would mean "the end of the world as we know it." Thankfully, Y2K didn't live up to the hype after years and billions of dollars were spent on painstaking preparation.
Y2K seems like a joke now, but in 1999 people were really freaking out

there are no consumer-facing use cases for AI, and i fucking hate that it's being pushed as the next big thing. it's not a search engine, it's not a personal assistant, it's not helpful. it's a hole in the ground that we're all being asked to throw flaming piles of money into
"A request made through ChatGPT, an AI-based virtual assistant, consumes 10 times the electricity of a Google Search"

This isn't a game. This is accelerated destruction via huge usage of power, water, resources etc. Stop using it - especially for messing about!!

AI has an environmental problem. Here’s what the world can do about that.
The sprawling data centres that house AI servers churn out toxic electronic waste and are voracious consumers of electricity, which in most places is still produced from fossil fuels.

Conflating physical imperfection with moral imperfection only really got popular bc victorian england forced it on the rest of us at the same time they were pumping out machines, setting rail lines for trains and destroying histirical artifacts to make them follow their worldview

It's really apparent that business majors really only apply the book Art Of War or the book The Prince to business practice and not to interpersonal business relationships or to PR rn

Elon musk and vivek proved in one fell swoop that money can't buy power that isn't challenged and the funniest thing about it is the reason why the magats are mad is completely predictable and totally avoidable by just shutting the fuck up but these mfs just can't help themselves

Wikipedia is one of the few areas of the internet that has been consistently devoted to facts and to empowering people to participate in the process.

This is exactly why Musk hates it and wants it destroyed.
World’s richest man was posting this as he was approaching xmas eve.

The lesson is pretty clear: Trump is a lame duck, and Musk is the richest man in the world, and everyone in Congress knows it

Musk is trying to usher in a system of population control and power directly by the rich and the problem for him is that our politicians are more entrenched than ever and they will never willingly hand him direct governance he doesnt know how to use

Theres a reason the rich bought politicians lol

The cut song "Biggering" from most recent lorax movie is where we're at right now

More specifically the lyrics "who cares if some things are dying?
I don't want to hear your crying"

Some things are us to the rich. We're not peons, we're ants

This⬇️ Keep pushing for universal health care. Will it happen under Trump? Of course not, but we can't stop fighting for it. Not only would it greatly improve the health, finances, and overall well being of Americans, but it will force employers to into negotiations for better wages too!

The only thing the rich haven't figured out how to make us pay a price for unilaterally is the air we breathe and theyre literally trying to take an axe to our air quality protections

They'll be pushing air purifiers while all of us cosplay as canaries in coal mines

It's going to take at least a century from literally right now for the consequences of boomer's projecting their laziness and entitlement onto everyone younger than them to finally dissipate and by then half of them will be literal dirt

...keep being an open racist. He’s committing to the bit so hard it’s like he was born to it.

This is correct. Similarly, it's more important to call out and specify Trump's authoritarianism and his specific faults and actions than to complain that the NYT doesn't get it right.
Been thinking about free speech and I realized I get too distracted by the hypocrisy of self-styled “free speech warriors. Speech is under assault like never before in my life; it’s far more important to call that out directly than to complain about Bari Weiss failing to be in any way consistent.

Yes, and yes it’s deliberate.

Back when fact checking was easy and common, the left and working classes made huge gains around the world. So; the right and billionaire classes made it harder and started presenting it as bad.
Am I crazy, or are things that used to be or would seemingly be easy to find with a quick Google search now near impossible?

How are we being upstaged in economic system versus deaths caused by the dominant economic system by people who thought bloodletting worked for the plague
