Tooth fairies are just a subspecies of the larger bone fairy that has a symbiotic relationship with human children for a brief period of time that evolved from the scavenger bone fairy that still exists today

Like just imagine coming into your family home and your weirder cousin who really cares about the news for some reason just offhandedly tells you the richest man in the world was having a catfight with a political campaign advisor while holding a basket of shucked corn weeks after the fact

Nothing says good sports ball like ritually sacrificing humanoid poptarts to a giant fireworks box dressed up like a toaster
December 29, 2024 at 12:37 AM
The teeth and bones of corpses are the domain of the bone fairies, obviously

A Classic move of both that guy and Plato: make shit up and double down for the lols to see if anyones paying attention
December 29, 2024 at 12:31 AM
Its just way more socially acceptable now to fantasize about a character being your perfect partner in a public social setting rather than that being reserved for a saucy book club or a private discussion between friends
Same as like not hiding Ao3 anymore lol

Not to out myself at all but romantic fantasy especially involving explicit themes is more just becoming acceptable to talk about with more cultural awareness more so than it becoming more popular
Its an ol reliable of adult fiction it just involves more monsters now rather than like adventerers
December 28, 2024 at 10:37 PM
Ooo that sounds fun!I hope you can work something out.

Honestly if I had the time I'd love to write books about random esoteric histories I find myself mining into the earth running afrer the rabbit for

Maybe I should try to make some time somehow

Its actually maddening
Not even mentioning how inaccessible new knowledge is due to paywalls and our antiquated copyright system that locks scientific studies behind copyright like its a product, because big daddy disney doesn't want mickey mouse to be public domain
December 28, 2024 at 9:45 PM
We're a species that prizes story telling so much we used it to go from caves to cities and now if you don't want to trudge through a stack of paper big enough to contain an epic saga you can't learn about something new without the text treating you as if you have an IQ of negative twelve

I'm not a doctor but if I had to guess where a lot of the danger lies I'd say that in the US at least its because people at all ages are crammed in together in poorly ventilated and sanitized spaces against their will for at least 9 hours a day 5 days a week and being absent is a moral failure
December 28, 2024 at 9:31 PM
Also various systems still have the same problem its just set further back now and has to be caught regularly to have the can kicked further down

Y2K turned from a mass apocalypse to an ongoing major or minor problem depending on scope

And when I say byzantine I mean it literally rather than figuratively
Prior to Anna Komenene's work with the Alexiad all works written by Byzantines were as dry as chalk dust and we're upholding that legacy rather than telling our history and sharing knowledge in a way thats actually interesting
December 28, 2024 at 9:14 PM
I'd like to see more YA nonfiction because that would actually get both kids and teens as well as adults to read up on facts

We have a byzantine approach to nonfiction, dry stale and boring. That should change
