“While Mayor, I was often asked ‘how have you been able to afford bike-lanes in #Copenhagen?’ I’d reply, ‘how have you been able to NOT afford it? 25 years ago we were a few days away from going bankrupt. So the city invested in the cheapest infrastructure… bicycling.’” — @mortenkabell.bsky.social

I was surprised that Canada imports 438,000 barrels of refined petroleum products daily, half of which goes into the gas tanks of cars in Ontario and eastern provinces. If Doug Ford was truly "Cap'n Canada" he would promote bikes and getting people out of cars instead of ripping up bike lanes.

Explaining in Five Paragraphs the Scam Donald Trump Just Pulled on 150 Million American TikTok Users
Make no mistake, one of the most popular apps in the world was just down in the U.S. for 14 hours because Donald Trump ordered that it be taken down. Why? So he could be seen as a hero in “saving” it.

I am a proud New Democrat but there are moments when we must put country first.
Trump's inauguration poses a serious threat.
Canadians deserve a plan, not political brinkmanship.
I will go back to Parliament to try my best.
I will not vote with Pierre Poilieve as it risks advancing his toxic agenda.

All we have to do is look at the absolute misery that is the US Postal Service not to mention train service. When will people realize that privatization of public services just doesn’t work? This ad was spot on. youtu.be/HScWSuCag-U

Advent Sci-Fact 15:

Urban Bees have Bigger Brains!🐝
Bee species that survive in urban habitats have bigger brains than those in natural environments. This may be due to a “cognitive buffer”: big brains are more flexible, better for changing habitats.

When I dared Trump to mouth off to Canadian women I wasn't joking.
In my region during a miners' strike the cops threatened to beat any man who dared walk the street.
Thousands of women came out with their kids in -30 temperatures to face down the cops.
Don't mess with CDN women.
We the north.

Never forget, the truth about a city’s aspirations isn’t found in its vision. It’s found in its budget.

This is a really great piece that actually explains what being a postal worker is like, both physically and psychologically, and what posties are fighting for beyond more money.

The City could postpone a road widening project (airport parkway) and build affordable housing and offer free transit instead. Entire Community and Social Services budget =widening 1km of road. We have the money!

This is important.

Years ago, while I was advising the City of Sydney Australia on various things, there was an INFAMOUS day where a particularly bad state-level minister of roads was stuck in traffic and saw bike riders zooming by his limousine in a well-used, safe, protected bike-lane.

Well…

You become hardened, angered and mean then they tell you to be kind; you have compassion, empathy & happiness then they say you’re too soft.
Damned either way but I choose kind, compassionate, empathetic & happy.
