Never forget: At breakneck speed we are leaving the stable Holocene climate in which human society developed and thrived. Weather extremes are outside historical experience. Sea-level rise is accelerating. Dangerous tipping points are ahead.

Union contracts can support "solar panels and electrification, expanding indoor air quality monitoring, helping educators integrate climate change into their curriculum, and establishing training for students in clean energy jobs, among other steps"
Teachers unions leverage contracts to fight climate change.

As federal support and financial incentives for climate action wither, this sort of local action is becoming more difficult but also more urgent, advocates say.

The world is deeply unserious about dealing with climate change. We need to reduce emissions by 50% in 5 years and we're nowhere near that.
World’s climate plans fall drastically short of action needed, analysis shows
Recent plans submitted to UN by more than 60 countries would cut carbon by only 10%, a sixth of what is needed

📣 Today we have updated our summary of net zero targets across 40+ of the world's largest emitters. What do we see?

🛑 Ten years after the adoption of the Paris Agreement, the design of most net zero targets remains inadequate.

‘Reduce, reuse, recycle’ is corporate gaslighting – the real change must come from the fossil fuel industry
Recycling and cutting personal waste isn’t enough. Polluters must be regulated, and reparations paid by companies that have harmed the environment.

Ottawa has a bold vision of a greener future with lots of sustainable transportation options including walking and rolling.

Sidewalks are an essential part of this vision. We can't miss out on important opportunities. Thank you to these residents for holding the city to account.
It's great to see local residents fighting back against this decision.

As we've said, accessibility and safety are more important than neighbourhood character.

Moreover, deferring sidewalks here would set a bad precedent for a good policy. #OttWalk #OttRoll
