James Webb Satellite took a fantastic shot of the Planet Saturn with it's Near Infrared Camera (NIRCam) and the Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI). This is just an Amazing shot that shows the planet and the rings in brilliant detail.

With Donald Trump blowing his foghorn of threats against Canada, the hockey final between the U.S. and its northern neighbor in the 4 Nations tournament felt like a new Cold War.

A slight amendment to the 28th. If you can find a small POC establishment to get a coffee, or buy lunch, do it. It’s still Black History month so maybe we can spread some love on the local level for these people who need and deserve our support.

Target has lost over $15 billion since announcing its DEI policy decision.

Well done!

Let’s keep the momentum going.

Thank you for these important sources!
people have said it more eloquently than me but: the reach for comparisons between what’s happening now with this administration and various moments in European history is an erasure of the fact that this American struggle has happened here before
Back to reading Black Reconstruction. But two things: 1.) Today is W.E.B. Du Bois's birthday! and 2.) Everyone should check out Zinn Education Project's valuable report about how the state fails to teach complex histories of Reconstruction: www.teachreconstructionreport.org

I really appreciate @marisakabas.bsky.social reporting on the trauma and physical and psychological effects of how Musk is harassing workers. This kind of workplace abuse wreaks devastating havoc on peoples' lives www.thehandbasket.co/p/musk-opm-5...
Move fast and break people
For Elon Musk's government, the psychological warfare is the point.

It's always been the case that "buying" an ebook from amazon was only actually a loan they could rescind at any point, but lately Amazon have gone harder on this, and it is 100% so that they can wipe banned books from your libraries without your consent.

The aspiring despot is no longer whistling past the gallows—he’s building it. Musk’s tantrum-dictator act isn’t amusing; it’s a flashing red light. Free societies crumble when they mistake these threats for theater. He must be contained—immediately!
I mean, he's saying he's a tyrant out loud. It is unacceptable that he's saying this, and the currently docile polity of America better come to understand that this man must be immediately contained.

Kat is making a very crucial observation, here. This is the politics of psychological gratification. It's not just about making people feel good—it's about creating a self-reinforcing system where emotional ratification becomes more important than objective reality. 🧵
The lure of Elon’s alternate reality for his followers is so powerful that he will tell them that pulling books off shelves, deleting words from government websites, and banning programs for their kids based on words they used is all part of fighting back against censorship. And they just let him

Almost two weeks ago, I found out I was one of 40 people getting laid off from NBC News.

Those who know me know I’ve wanted to go independent for a long time. Later this month, I’m launching @spitfirenews.com. We need journalism that is louder than ever.

Privatizing basic government functions like health care just makes it more expensive for people.
Same goes with energy, transportation, telecommunications, prisons, military and the list goes on.
It's not a "freedom to choose" it's a rip off to make somebody money.

Let’s keep in mind that good or bad, schools have been spaces where most kids learn who they are in the world…
The purging of any materials related to "discriminatory equity ideology" came from the DOD and has extended far beyond books.

Teachers were also forced to "remove all bulletin boards that reference Black History Month and Black leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr, Harriet Tubman, and Rosa Parks."
