We've found a solution to the argument over whether to sing Holst or Darke's arrangement of In The Bleak Midwinter.
You're not going to like it, though.

These parents who won't take ANY responsibility for creating positive attitudes in their children to things they themselves disliked.
Schools CANNOT win against such attitudes. It could be in sport, maths, literacy, anything. Parental attitude is everything. Stop blaming schools.

If the papers are to believed, they could recoup this from savings on not having to buy school uniforms and sports kit! And trips and books everything else parents like to moan about having to buy for their children.
It already is. Prices have gone up from an average of £150-200 to £250-300 over the last five years or so.

A radio programme like the Shipping Forecast but it’s called Bin Day and it just reads out every single council in the country’s bin schedule

Calling excel wizards: is there a way to make like a macro thingy that can combine certain data from two different spreadsheets. ie, I want to take a report I run each week (Sparx homework) and add a field from second spreadsheet (admission number) in order to make a mail merge CSV?

Rosalind Franklin rightly being spoken of in recent days, but one nugget that has been overlooked is that her music teacher, one Gustav Holst, was so frustrated at her lack of progress that he called on her mother to ask if she was deaf.

I made a “how do you do, fellow kids?” joke to someone in their mid 20s who, it turns out, was too young to have heard of that meme.
So “how do you do, fellow kids?” is now an example of “how do you do, fellow kids?”

I just bought four mint chocolate oranges
Three signs it's Christmas before you know it:
1) I'm getting hassled about the 4 carol services I'm playing the organ for
2) Costa has already launched the Black Forest Hot Chocolate and not told anyone about it

I think I deserve some sort of executive function gold star, I booked my car in for its MOT so far in advance that the bloke at the garage didn't have to do the "hmmmmmm we're very busy, let me see if we could squeeze you in before your deadline" routine.

I often quote “everything looks easy when someone else is doing it” when I want students to do something for themselves rather than just trust my worked example is enough, but the quote could easily apply to leadership and managers to tell them to give the people under them a bit more grace.
