Got to admit I'm disappointed my twins don't seem to be coming tonight. How cool would it be if the older one ended up being legally younger than the younger one due to daylight savings? Ok not that cool

My school may sometimes have some crazy policies and ideas that I think are a bit silly, but a work from home inset day just before half term is absolute genius

At my school we have been asked to redesign our KS3 assessments so that the results will follow a normal distribution. Instinctively this feels like a bad idea. Maths teachers: what do you think? Anyone done this?

I love this binomial expansion question. You get an over or under estimate depending on whether you start rationalised or not.

Can you talk about the roots of a quadratic expression? You can have roots of quadratic functions. Is the equals sign required even though the zero is not?

Follow up question: it's two girls! So, assuming that I'm equally likely to conceive identical and non (doc says so), What's the probability that they're identical?
guys I'm having a real life two-child problem! I'm pregnant with twins and the doctor could only tell me that one of them was a girl, the other one she couldn't tell. so what's the probability I'm having two girls?? #alevelmaths

I'm setting target grades today for year 12 and for the first time we've been given each student's average GCSE grade as a way of helping us decide. Huge eye opener! Everyone has a 7-9 in maths but average GCSE grade varies from 4.33 to 9.00! Seems a very good indicator so far.
