It takes about 19 hours to fly from mandalay to London. Myanmar has one of the largest unvaccinated populations. Diphtheria, cholera, TB, malaria are seen there, and are crossing to neighboring Thailand. In 19 hrs, any of these diseases can be in London. This is why international aid is crucial.

Unfortunately, trump has let the bigots out of their closets all over the world. He’s made it cool to be racist. Proved greed is good, and poverty is fine so long as it stays far away from him. That White is right. That any culture or religion different from WASP culture is “nasty.”
Trump is nothing to do with me. He is a narcissistic megalomaniac. He is also over there not over here. The UK has decided regardless of Trump that women's rights, gay rights and children's rights cannot be trampled on by trans activists. However violent they become. That's what my post is about.

Is anyone surprised?
DOJ official Todd Blanche promised to dump his crypto holdings no later than 90 days after his Senate confirmation in March.

But about a month into the job — before divesting — he ordered an end to investigations into crypto companies.

Of all the examples of people dying because somebody inexperienced was in charge, the biggest, most horrifying was Elon Musk and DOGE. No idea what AID did, didn’t care, blew it up and at least 600,000 people died unnecessarily as a consequence. Mass murder out of ignorance and bias. Thanks, Elon.
the very last person who should be prattling on about the dangers of inexperience is the grifting troglodyte who killed millions when he was put in charge of “efficiency”

We wish. BTW, “Death by Lightning” was an excellent miniseries. Great acting, great writing. And a part of American history a lot of people don’t know about.

This dramatically enhanced pressure on Europe/Denmark and the new outrageous sanctions on info researchers coming at a time when Putin is escalating his physical attacks on Ukraine suggests that the US is now *coordinating* with Russia to weaken Europe and Ukraine.

Denmark lost more troops per capita in the post 9/11 war on Afghanistan. Saying they “are not a good ally” because they won’t surrender their territories to the US is lunacy. We are betraying our allies to satisfy the whims of a would-be Emperor for whom the US is not enough.
They’re again advocating against Denmark when it comes to Greenland

You know where a lot of this money is going. And not to fund that trash ballroom.
All of the money that changed hands in the Teapot Dome scandal totaled less than $10 million after adjusting for inflation, and it was considered so corrupt we still teach it in high school government classes a century later.
Corruption so pungent, it wafts right off the page:

Lobbyists who do pardon deals “say their going rate is $1 million. Pardon-seekers have offered some lobbyists close to the president success fees of as much as $6 million if they can close the deal.”

Saw that one coming. As well as how farms suffered the loss of workers in my area last fall and will again this spring. No Americans will do farm work for farm min wage ( less than minimum wage wage), no benefits, 12-14 hour days, in all weather including 95 degree heat with 95% humidity.
Immigration is incredible because it's one of the few policy areas where people are willing to suffer real, concrete consequences in order to solve completely imaginary problems.
ICE raids appear to be 100% responsible for the current housing crunch in south Texas. Indeed, they have brought residential construction to an end.

Sarcasm, hun. trump and his allies love to forget the violence and disruption they’ve caused on a much larger scale, when demonizing others who they claim will cause any kind of trouble. Peaceful protestors & those who disagree with trump become scum, trump tries to order them shot in the legs
So that makes it OK?

She had to know all about this segment, probably saw it before it was edited. Knew the WH refused to make anyone available for an interview. Pulling a segment 3 hours before airtime was proof someone threatened or bribed weiss. Editors just don’t do this.
When Bari Weiss took over as editor-in-chief of CBS News, it was only a matter of time before she damaged its journalistic credibility. Then, just 11 weeks into her tenure, she pulled a “60 Minutes” segment on El Salvador’s notorious CECOT prison that would have displeased President Trump.

Dan Brown is a clever storyteller, like JK Rowling. They know their audience and give them what they want and what sells.
I have this friend with whom I argue about Dan Brown. I state that The Da Vinci Code is a sloppy hack job, while my friend defends the right of the reader to feel clever. We both enjoy these fruitless debates. And I agree with you: more of that!

I read it as a story about nasty people who ignore everything but their own pleasure and perceived needs. Always wondered what happened to Nick. He hung with these people yet judged them. Did he break away? Or end up one of them?
I found that book tiresome and boring but I enjoy arguing with a friend who studied literature as he details why my attitude to that story is churlish. His defence of the great gatsby is worth the price of the beer. We move in to Bowie after, he says Bowie best works end after Rise & Fall, but I
