Finished Cuckoo by Gretchen Felker Martin about a week ago and I can’t stop thinking about it. It’s so uncomfortable and harrowing, such dark and heavy subject matter but there is the overarching thread of beauty and light, even with an ending that isn’t exactly happily ever after.

I was excited to read I Was a Teenage Slasher by @sgj.bsky.social when it came out but I’d just lost my dad and it was hitting too close to home. I picked it back up this week and I’m so glad I did. Easily one of his best. It’s funny, heartbreaking, and brutal and brought me to tears a few times.
