Tired: The Sokkahroos, by pot luck, have avoided some of the sport's strongest nations for the 2026 World Cup pool stage.

Wired: Pot 2 is an absolute nightmare scenario for Popović if it means having the ball, going by underlyings in WCQ games during his tenure.

Me when I saw the starting XI Popović rolled out with for the Sokkahroos against Colombia:

Once the novelty wore off after 2016, a 24-team Euro is unquestionably watered down, with the bar for qualification now essentially a speed bump and everyone playing sufferball. A 48-team World Cup will likely be the same, but it’s sick to see Scotland and Austria back for first time since 98.
The fun part about letting way more teams into the World Cup is a lot of unexpected countries are qualifying. The less fun part is this is the last time it will ever mean this much

Steph also just put up 46 and 49 points in B2B games on a combined 56.9% shooting (29/51). This was a real game, and JK’s absence is noteworthy in a defensive sense, but it can’t be sustainable if Steph has to turn into the Human Torch like it’s peak Two Timelines.
I'll be accused of being mean for this, but I'll just say that these were the best two games of the Warriors' season so far ... and Kuminga played 12 minutes in the 1st one and none in this one.

I'm NOT saying he's a bad player or useless. I'm saying that this is worth noting.

Just spat out my water at three straight triples from GP2/Podz down the stretch in a game that seems to actually matter.

Zverev developing the ultimate flop CV with this along with the lowest win % of any player in T10 vs T10 matches at GS events:

Some context for just how much better Sincaraz are than everyone else on the tour atm. The current gap between them and Zverev in terms of rankings points is bloody absurd.
25 - Excluding Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner has won his past 25 matches vs ATP top 10 opponents, with his last such defeat coming to Andrey Rublev in Montreal last year – that match against Rublev was Sinner’s second in a day. Chasm.

Get the sense these Finals will be definitive for Shelton; his rally tolerance and net game has improved somewhat this season to complement serving dominance, but a lot of room for improvement on his return. Either comes out of Turin with feedback in this regard, or he just stays the same player.

Of all the short-sighted and gimmicky ideas in Adam Silver’s tenure as Commissioner that undermine the primacy of the basketball/product itself, NBA Cup might be the most gimmicky of them all. What scrambles my brain the most is that it is a cup comp that still counts towards regular season record.

Had Covid during finals weekend for AO 2023 and the level of hitting in that Sabalenka-Rybakina final did more damage to my anxiety than the Covid, what a spectacle
2012 - This will be the first final at the WTA Finals to be a rematch of a Grand Slam final since Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova in 2012. Showdown.

At least Japan’s jersey has the possibility of being influenced by results at the WC. Meanwhile, we have yet another stinker. After two good home kits in 20+ years, we are finally, mercifully approaching the end of the HNS/Nike nightmare.

Along with a better angle of course, wanting to hear crowd/ambience and not wanting to hear verbal diarrhoea commentary whenever I watch the A-Liga Men’s has left me in dire need of the Bar TV tactical cam plug. A month into the season but these are extremely desperate times.

Hire new coach after not extending previous coach, get bent over a barrel in ensuing off-season transfer window and give out bad contracts, incompatible and uncompetitive team performs badly, put more bad/reactive money into squad, sack coach two weeks into next season. This is a bit of a mess tbh.
Perth Glory chief executive Anthony Radichon why they sacked David Zdrilic sacking just two games into the new season and the hunt for a fifth coach in six seasons - but any new coach is not expected to be able to bring a big support staff with them.
Why Glory sacked coach just two games into new season
Perth Glory chief executive Anthony Radich said a lack of on-field progression despite substantial investment was behind coach David Zdrilic’s sacking just two games into the new season.

Dynamic pricing and the overtly transparent cash grab that is now ticketing at major events is one of the central off-field aspects of The Enshittification of Football, but even within that context, paying $100 to effectively just enter a draw to pay on top for WC tickets is uniquely brazen.

As familiar as the company men dynamic of Fitz/Kelenna is now, I miss Jim Barnett so much.

As insightful and invested as Legler is, his enthusiasm and knowledge is totally drowned out by the sheer noise of the rest of the ESPN crew. In any sport, I have never witnessed pundits/commentators with as much go away heat as Jefferson and Perk.

Wemby and Castle are really only just scratching surface of their respective potential. It's absurd how good they already are, taking into account trade capital the Spurs still have to manoeuvre with. That they could already be within spitting distance of 50 wins in this Western conference is nuts.
