No creepy DMs. I'm married and not interested.
The fact that so many people need to be babysat to prevent them from defacing things is abysmal. #ParkCat

Just like Ghislane Maxwell is kept away from others.

I'm pretty sure that there's a hierarchy of criminal offenses, and those who abuse (especially sexually) children are at the bottom of the pile. They are looked down upon by all others. If a convicted child molester/killer stays alive, it's because they are kept away from the general populace.

Good to know! Shepherdstown is just a few miles from Sharpsburg, where my mom lives! #ParkChat

I mean, even hardened criminals had no sympathy for Jeffrey Dahmer. He abused and ATE children. That's why he died in prison.

A12 #ParkChat Will there be a ParkChat gift exchange this year?

A11 #ParkChat I don't think there are enough characters available for this without threading it. Still, any #STEAMinthePark trip, any #404family road trip, any trip with @patred.bsky.social, the trips with my mom.... they are all beautiful in their own ways.

A10 #ParkChat I don't think of anything as "odd." I did do a horseback ride at Ft. Robinson State Park (Nebraska) that was really fun.

A9 #ParkChat Well, my "go to" park (C&O Canal) is about transportation.

The park I posted about earlier (Steamtown NHS) is all railroad.

I've been to Allegheny Portage Railroad, which is both RR and canal!

Golden Spike.

Yeah, I've been to a few. 😆

A8 #ParkChat Again, this really depends on the park.

Making sure there are chargers for electric vehicles would be good (whether that's within the park, or wherever people who take a shuttle have to park).

Any shuttles should be electric or CNG.

I've driven my Camaro in significant snow on summer tires.

I've driven Going to the Sun Road.

I don't wish what you had to do on anyone. #ParkChat

A7 #ParkChat That really depends on the park, to be honest. I'd love to be able to do the whole C&O Canal Towpath by bike or horseback, but the issue is "not a loop."

"Virtual" visits don't do it for me. I want to be there and see/smell/hear everything. So, I'm not sure what the answer is.

And is a continuation of Skyline Drive from Shenandoah NP.... #ParkChat

A6 #ParkChat My only "parking fail" was my 2020 attempt to find parking near Grand Prismatic in Yellowstone. I eventually found a spot, but the spring was wreathed in fog, and I didn't get to see squat.

Yellowstone should adopt shuttle service similar to Yosemite, Acadia and others.

A5 #ParkChat I go to Gettysburg and Antietam often. When I went to Shiloh for the first time (with my mom), we did the drive, and I learned about the Shiloh Mounds there in the middle of the battlefield. www.nps.gov/shil/mounds....

A4 #ParkChat Skyline Drive in Shenandoah NP is a good scenic drive (I once did most of it via motorcycle while driving from Maryland to Virginia Tech, where my b/f of the time lived). Nowadays, I'd rather stop and explore, and my husband isn't as into hiking as I am.

A3 #ParkChat I think this answer really depends on the route taken.

So, with that said, I'm going to say Badlands NP, only because it's this specific video that I stitched together late at night July 2012 which convinced my dad to visit just 3 weeks later. www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8G9...

A2 #ParkChat The only time I've ridden a train in conjunction with a National Park visit is the #404Family trip to Steamtown NHS.
