I say this with zero irony: if you are even tangentially a part of a retro video game community, it is your civic duty to push back against this company and shun anyone who doesn't. This is fascism tapping gently at the door and as soon as you let it in, it's going to invite its friends.

Netflix's business model has always been video rental.

Its convenience made a lot of people change habits, like stopping buying DVDs.
Same is happening with going to cinemas: many find more convenient to stay at home.

But it will never replace either. Though very popular, it's just a third option.
Netflix boss Ted Sarandos was previously asked if they're destroying Hollywood

“No, we’re saving Hollywood"

"Folks grew up thinking, ‘I want to make movies on a gigantic screen and have strangers watch them ... [and have them] play in the theater for 2 months … It’s an outdated concept"

How to make you wanna watch BALLERINA - in a single shot.

Actually, the film is very flat and boring for 40 minutes, and then suddenly this shot appears out of nowhere, as if to wake us up and tell us that from now on it's going to be really fun.

And it is.

A truly schizophrenic film.

For any video game lover, watching that video is like going to church on a Sunday morning.

Actual billionnaires are worst than every single James Bond villain.

And I'm often wondering how the next #jamesbond movie is gonna deal with that.
The world’s first trillionaire initiated a move that has left more than half a million people dead, most of whom are children.

Every ai video sucks because they’re never more than their prompts, you’re like ‘yeah that’s a video of a dinosaur eating chips whilst skateboarding,” but like that’s it - you could just post your prompt and it’d be the same. But every real piece of film contains MORE than just its script

Fuck yeah
The decline of third spaces and hangouts, such as malls, video rental places, arcades & skate parks has been a direct result of the rise of convenience and has also been objectively bad for society as a whole. Its not that everyone HAS to socialize, but having no option to without bars is a failing.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

Do people not realise that $360 a year is original arcade PCB money? Legendary shmup money? Neo Geo cart money? "Unaffordable" Saturn RPG money?

Even if none of those sound enticing... if nothing else, you could get something real, to keep, for those prices D:
