Excited to share our new paper in @cellreports.bsky.social that reshapes our understanding of chromosome organization's deep evolutionary roots! Our work dives into the origins of the machinery that structures our very genomes.

Our latest work on the bacterial Tol-Pal complex now published! Kudos & congrats to the brilliant @weeboont.bsky.social! We can (finally) confidently assign the true function of Tol-Pal in maintaining OM lipid homeostasis, independent of cell division! 👇 1/7 #microsky

A system built with just a few neurons, yet able to solve a complex task — not by stacking layers or going deeper, but by embracing unconventional thinking.

Wow! LASCO is a camera on the SOHO space-based solar observatory. It has an occulting disk that blocks the Sun and lets us see fainter material around it. This time-lapse lasts several days, and holy wow that comet!
What a beauty! This is comet C/2024 G3 (ATLAS) passing through the field of view of the LASCO C3 coronagraph.

It wasn't for certain whether it would survive it's closest approach to the sun on January 13th, but it did and delivered us a spectacular show!

In his book Normal Accidents, Charles Perrow argued that complex tightly-coupled systems are prone to unpredictable disruptions. He focused on technology but his warning about risks of interventions in complex systems clearly applies to ecosystems.
