The gall to say the United States is a nation of laws when our president has broken fucking half of them openly, and is still in the fucking White House. lol no.
They're literally going with the "just doing their jobs" defense.

I just left the Everglades Immigrant Interment Camp. No, I’m not using their ridiculous name. It was a very tough to witness humans in those cages. Every Floridian should be ashamed that our taxpayer money is being used for this.

It's easy to forget now but we had decades of steady advancement on trans rights. The 2016 bathroom bills invited huge backlash! It was only after the media constructed sports and youth medications as 'debates' that opposition moved from the far right to the polite center.
The repression of trans people is not, by and large, a grassroots outpouring of hatred from the American people. It's something that's been carefully planted and tended over years by a handful of media people and their pet reporters.
Heightened Scrutiny, a very good doc about the Supreme Court case that was just ruled on, does an impeccable and infuriating job laying out just how culpable the NYT and Atlantic are for the nation’s transphobia www.avclub.com/sundance-202...

I read a biography of Lincoln once, and early in his life he was testing his anti-slavery beliefs by reading the best pro-slavery arguments and afterwards he wrote down "None of these people arguing about how great slavery is for the slaves seems to want to be a slave themselves."
thinking of one of abraham lincoln's great quotes this morning:

"As I would not be a slave, so I would not be a master. This expresses my idea of democracy. Whatever differs from this, to the extent of the difference, is no democracy."

Pop fans thinking a recession will bring back early '10s party music reminds me a lot of how everyone thought the Iraq War would lead to a lot of great rock music. It doesn't work like that!

Cable news suddenly keeps mentioning “sleeper cells” in Iran. Heard it at least 3 times on CNN. Unbelievable 2003-style reporting malpractice, just spitballing ways of making Iran seem like a threat to Americans sitting at home watching tv

if there are reprisal terrorist attacks in the U.S. they are less likely to backed by Iran than they are to be independent actions by individuals unconnected to any state. think the San Bernardino ISIS shooting

this is just how political violence works today, it's nothing specific to this conflict

That's a decent point, and I think there's probably a pretty direct link there, but I'd also point out that all that stuff started roughly a year before Trump got elected
And yet the trump admin did lead to 4 years of boring depressing nothing pop

This is really not funny. District court judges who have been subject to increasing threats as a result of Trump rhetoric, DOJ lawyers’ suggestions that the orders of district court judges are illegitimate, and House Speaker Mike Johnson’s threats of jurisdiction-stripping, are being further….
I didn’t have the Supreme Court destroying the authority of federal district courts on my bingo card. But in retrospect that’s perhaps where all this shadow docket decision-making was going all along.

Really scary stuff.

People spend a lot of time wondering why the left is worse at using independent media to control the national narrative.

A useful exercise is to ask why the left is also worse at selling snake oil and pyramid schemes, because I think the reasons are basically exactly the same.
