So realistically, this train line will finally open around 2045 or so.

Let's see if it survives multiple government changes.

I know there's tons of jokes about going around about the man passing out during Trump's press conference. But, being serious here for a second:

Standing still and rigid for long periods of time causes dizziness and fainting because blood pools in the legs (or so I was told).

Since everyone is doing it. Can anyone guess what my favourite series is?

Also, my Dark Souls play activity is heavily skewed, because I accidentally left it running overnight or through the day almost a dozen times. I still would have put over 150 hours into it, just not 300 like it says.

While I was happy to see Fire Emblem in the Nintendo Direct, I was selfishly hoping for a remake of an older game rather than a new entry in the series.

Oh well, I guess I no longer have an excuse to put off another playthrough of Genealogy once I finally finish with Engage.

I'm not a huge metal person, but I really liked some of Mastodon's stuff. Once More 'Round the Sun, both album and song, is a particular favourite of mine.

Rest in peace Brent. You made the world a better place.

I don't use LLMs in my day-to-day life, but every few months I'll spend hour or two goofing around with one just to see if they've gotten any better - and to see if I can break them. I can report that Gemini is still pointless, and it broke with startling ease.

Sometimes, improbable things happen.

Congrats to @brucefanjoy.bsky.social, who willed this result into being. Hard work pays off.
If he loses, thank his main opponent, Bruce Fanjoy, who has put in the hard work to make it competitive.

That said, it's still a big "if". Based on most polls, Fanjoy has, generously, a 10% chance of winning. Enough to be competitive and force Poilievre to spend resources, but only just.

I know everyone is celebrating the Liberal win (and Poilievre losing his seat), and I hate to be a wet blanket, but I want to highlight something:

In any other election, a party getting 40%+ of the popular vote would be a guaranteed majority. Both the Liberals and Conservatives hit that mark.

Happy birthday, Dad. Time to come back now, it’s all gone a bit rubbish without you. ❤️❤️❤️

Question to my fellow Canadians (and those following our election):

If we end up with an overwhelming Liberal majority (200ish+ seats), does the Conservative Party hold together? I imagine there will be fingers pointed and blame assigned, but will they fracture back into the PCs and Alliance?
April 21, 2025 at 11:49 PM
I normally wait until election day to vote, if only to have time to account for any potential last-minute scandals.

This time, though, I opted to vote early. The polling station was calm, and there was a steady stream of people. I only had to wait in line for five minutes before casting my ballot.

🎧2025 Songs That I Like: Jump the Gate by Peach Fuzz

Something I don't often see: a band with both a male and female lead vocalist. The initial comparisons to Fleetwood Mac are obvious. I am (embarrassingly) not familiar enough with FM to make a deeper comparison, but this is still a great song.

🎧2025 Songs That I Like: It'll Be Alright by Sunsick Daisy

I think this song is about being anxious about a new relationship. If it is about anxiety, it is some of the most calming anxiety I've ever heard.

Using this post to try out the headphone emoji to see if it makes it to the Music feed.

2025 Songs That I Like: Speed by The Wrecks

This has all the hallmarks I associate with a specific sort of modern indie rock: almost too clever lyrics, melancholic lyrics crossed with an upbeat tune, and big glasses on the lead singer. It also has a big soaring chorus and is a lot of fun.

2025 Songs That I Like: Deep End by Spiritbox

This one goes hard once the chorus kicks in. Apparently this is dedicated to one of the band members who passed away, which explains the sadness in the lyrics. I'm not familiar with the band, but I hope he'd appreciate this.

At least they used Signal and not WhatsApp?

But seriously, a low-level analyst doing something a fraction as bad as this would be strung up on serious charges. There's a good chance all these guys will walk.

Except the reporter. I wouldn't be surprised if he alone faced any consequences.

2025 Songs That I Like: Lead Up by Goose
There's something both very classic and very modern about this song. It feels structured like an old-school rock song, but then I also get a very "current year" vibe out of it as well. It's just an incredible listen and has shot up as one of my favourites.

2025 Songs That I Like: Sweet Southern Sounds by Samantha Fish

I don't always like southern rock, but sometimes it hits just right. That makes the title of this song even more poetic. I really like the way the tempo creeps up during the solo. And hey, it's another female-led song.

2025 Songs That I Like: No Angels In This Town by Our Lady Peace

The homegrown heroes, still at it after so many years. I'm not as familiar with OLP as I am with some other Canadian bands, but this song has convinced me to see them live when the play near me next.

2025 Songs That I Like: Hallways by PUP

These are the sorts of breakup songs I appreciate. Rather than bitterness and anger, this is wallowing in hopelessness and self-pity. I find that hits a lot harder as it better describes my own failed relationships.

2025 Songs That I Like: Beatrice by The Toxhards

I love the buildup, from acoustic riff to full a full rollicking romp. These guys really sound like rock stars in this. I think this might be my absolute favourite of the songs I've put up here, it just hit me so hard the first time I heard it.

2025 Songs That I Like: Troubadour Moon by The Wildhearts

Another song in the tradition songs with an upbeat tune but sad subject matter. I can't quite place what this reminds me of, but it sure feels like it was inspired by a previous era of music, which really helps the melancholic lyrics.

2025 Songs That I Like: Change Me by DYLYN

As I said, soft spot for female-led rock music. I don't know if I'm using this term correctly, but "crunchy" comes to mind here. It's also got a lot of smaller elements packed into the background, which really fills out its sub-three minute length.

2025 Songs That I Like: Daughter of the Night by Kelsy Karter and the Heroines

I have a soft spot for female-led rock music, even though I suspect I'm not be the target audience in many cases (especially in this one). But I try every day to bury my cynicism so that I can enjoy music like this.
