I don't doubt that there are collective generational memories that link cohorts of people based on age.

But I also think the average person probably has more in common with their coworker who is 20 years their junior or senior than they do with a billionaire CEO who is the same age as them.

I'd really appreciate it if this happened before my kids are old enough to want to watch sports.

Yes, CMS 330 is made in Canada by the Canadian branch of Lockheed Martin. Their offices and laboratories are in Canada, and they hire Canadian workers.

Hamilton:
"If you can walk and talk, you can go to Mohawk.

If you can walk a bit faster, you can go to McMaster."

It's like the literal manifestation of that quote about Atlas Shrugged and The Lord of the Rings.

I wonder: are the lower numbers in the Territories and Newfoundland just a function of smaller populations, or do those places have higher vaccination rates?

And if you do decide to grind, focus on unlocking classes and abilities instead of just raising your level.
November 9, 2025 at 8:51 PM
Your characters' levels aren't nearly as important as their jobs, abilities, and equipment. A level 15 character with a good setup will outperform a level 25 character with a mediocre setup.

If you're not having any trouble with the story battles, then there is no need to grind.

Okay, I'm done, everyone can go back to all the other things wrong with this situation (the press conference, the USA, the world, whatever).

Every military parade I've been at has had people on standby to (hopefully) catch and carry off anyone who looks like they're going to pass out. Standing at attention for a long time will do that to you.

So what we're saying here is: elections are not Europa Universalis.

I think that's kind of topical right now.

I think FE Warriors would have been slightly more interesting if there had been characters from a greater variety of games. There were 12 characters from Fates, but no one from Jugdral, Magvel, or Tellius, and only a single character each from Valentia and Elibe.

Pedantry has taken over discourse. Try to use a metaphor or other comparative statement, and you can bet your bottom dollar that someone will come out of the woodwork to tell you it is invalid because it isn't an exact one-to-one comparison.

That's not unexpected. Harper didn't think he had the political capital for those fights when he was PM. The political winds have changed, and now some conservatives think the time is right.
October 18, 2025 at 12:09 AM
I don't think I ever implied that Harper was a saint, only that he was better at choosing his battles than Poilievre.

But to be absolutely clear: I am not a fan of Stephen Harper.
October 18, 2025 at 12:08 AM
Say what you will about Harper, but did understand realpolitik and knew he had to restrain the social conservatives in his party or else see a wider revolt from the centre. He was even from the Reform/Alliance wing himself and he was still able to keep them (and himself) in check.

I spent a few dozen hours on BotW, completing all the shrines, legendary beasts, and side areas, as well as upgrading all armour to its max level, before finally beating the game.

I did not know you could use a parry to reflect the Guardian laser beams until I watched a GDQ speedrun years later.

Unfortunately, the Ogre Battle series has basically gone dormant. The first Tactics Ogre game got remakes because it spawned an entire genre that includes the highly regarded Final Fantasy Tactics, but Ogre Battle only seems to be able to exist in spiritual successors like Unicorn Overlord.

This was a game absolutely straining under the limitations of the N64. There's an alternate timeline where it was released on the Playstation instead, and its full ambitions could be realized.

It's still a good game, but one can absolutely see the empty spaces where more content should have been.

I figured you had served. My comments were more for the benefit of everyone not in the know about the CAF. In my experience, the average Canadian knows very little about how the CAF actually functions, and I've been trying to do my small part in correcting that.
October 3, 2025 at 1:27 PM
There are always special circumstances, like medical limitations or charity campaigns, but those all have military regulations for them as well.
October 3, 2025 at 12:53 PM
It's not even that complicated. CAF members must wear Dress of the Day (normally a uniform) when on duty, and may wear it when transiting to/from their place of duty, and for off-site errands during their duty (e.g. a coffee run).

Dress of the Day is set by the appropriate military authority.
