Listening to the latest @ifbookspod.bsky.social episode they list Musk’s major romantic relationships.

Never hearing of Grimes before, I briefly glitched and pictured Gritty.

And for a second I was thinking…I mean, maybe?

I’ve had enough to drink tonight to admit to my small and disinterested band of followers that India Holton and Freya Marske write the way I would want to write if I was brave enough.

They ‘Take the Finger’ as Fated Mates would say.

This is devastating. Her books are delightful and a big part of why I got back into reading as an adult.
Sophie Kinsella has passed away at 55.

Her Shopaholic books were among the most prominent of what was called "chick lit."

Their popularity changed genre fiction.

How terribly, terribly sad.

I’ve been doing a LOT of furniture shopping lately. I’m least impressed by nightstands. The bar seems low, but there isn’t a lot of variety or innovation in the space.

If you like the “smart people who are into each other” & “Academia is kinda messed up hu?” element of Ali Hazelwood’s books. Then I highly recommend “An Ornithologist Field Guide to Love” by India Holton. It is all that and made me guffaw.

*That’s* the headline.

Society: we must find out what to do with retired stuffies. My daughter has a truly haunting number of stuffed animals and I am feeling stuck.

First thoughts: insulation for homes? Recycled into blankets or jackets for the un-housed?

Just finished the “Side Quest Row” series (so far) by RK Ashwick.

Currently desperate for more fantasy/ romance in the same style.

Any recs?

These are all delightful. It is a rare contemporary romance that makes the cut for me, but all of these are terrific.

I never feel more embraced by my fellow “girls who talk a LOT during English class” than in listening to the Fated Mates Podcast.

Can we stop giving terrorist shooters a platform to explain their reasoning?

I’d like more gun control please.

The new-to-me “Below Stairs” mystery series by Jennifer Ashley is great!

My only complaint is the audiobooks are so compelling that I am burning through them at a shocking pace and hitting my library and personal budget limits too fast.

Highly recommend!

The epistolary start to this book is AMAZING.

Handles motherhood in a unique, empathetic, and relatable way.

Downside to having a child is they crack up laughing at all their dad’s cheesy jokes.

It undermines my eyerolls and makes him suspect I too might think he is funny.

(I do.)

Now that the new Veronica Speedwell book has been announced- I’m allowing myself to read “A Grave Robbery”.

Delighted to watch Veronica and Stoker make everyone fall in love with one or the other, or (like myself) both.

I think community stuff would go better if we didn’t divide the labor equally.

Example)

Sports team snacks? I hate it. I will obsess, forget, remember and nobody will end up liking what I bring.

Give that to the foodie parent who knows everyone’s dietary restrictions.

@magic.wizards.com have you considered a team up with the @uspostal.bsky.social ?

Currently (re)reading “He Shall Thunder in the Sky” by Elizabeth Peters.

The tone is bananas, sweeping from gruesome murder to hilarious slapstick. I LOVE it. Get you a book who can do both, right?

I feel like modern books are not allowed this breadth.

Taking stock of what regular life is really like.

I'm playing a new game with myself I've called "word count yatzee".

I'm trying to get a full set of word counts over seven writing days. I made myself a fun little check list.

WC 333, 444, 555, 666, 777, 888, and 1K.

I'm on day two of seven. I'll let you know how it goes.

A big yikes stripes to the news today, so I am making it a point to create. Getting some words on the page for both my WIP novel and short story.

Slightly related, does anyone know how I can sign up to be a food vendor to the LA Music Festival?
